Since we founded the company last year, There has been a lot of hard work building and updating the website (In house by myself to help keep cost down) and we have a big year this year to prove ourselves with 10 weddings this year and a few penciled in for next year too.

As this is only our third paid gig coming up. our package includes a pre/engagement shoot, we use this shoot to gain experience and visit the Venue as we are really new to the wedding genre,

Here are a few for critique

Some really nice shots there.
I'm no use at giving crit, but I'm sure there will be others along soon.

I like them, 3 especially. Not sure on the processing on no.1 but still quite like it, how did you do the PP?

TBH I very nearly didn't comment on these, simply because I took one look and immediately wrote them off as the sort of pointless stuff which enthusiastic wannabe wedding snappers with no ideas of their own take because they think this is what it's all about. But then I remembered seeing other stuff of yours which was excellent, so I checked out the blog post ...

And was glad I did, because you've got some excellent work in the full post, much of which I'd have been very happy with if (perish the thought) I'd ever done a pre-wedding shoot, so I can only guess that you're after specific critique of these four. In which case, the first one doesn't work because it looks just like you meant to frame this conventionally but you sneezed as you pressed the button. The relationship of the subjects to the background is wrong, the background is boring as hell, and if you were aiming for "arty/alternative" or whatever, their expressions are wrong. As is everything, really :)

Second one just looks like a wonky grab shot taken by a second shooter while the primary was blowing his nose. What is this picture meant to say? If you were aiming for "couple in context of venue", there's too many elements of the setting. Put your hand over that painting and you'll start seeing what the possibilities really were ;)

The third one's a reject IMO. I can't even imagine what you were trying for there, but whatever it was, it was never going to work.

And there's too much clutter in the fourth. Your picture was them against that door, shot portrait.

The good stuff's in your blog post.

Thanks for the feedback Sid, definitely the the kind of feed back I'm after and has all been noted, referencing to the images taken, as we are relatively new to this game we are still defining our style and our PP is always evolving, We are trying to do things a little bit different with the occasional alternative/ " should i say it" creative crops something that varies from the norm. Going back to the BW image, ironically that the Client has made this picture her profile pic on FB and had lots of positive comments, just goes to show us photographers do see things different :)

As indeed you should, but ffs make that as well as - not instead of. Always beware throwing the baby out with the bathwater!

It also shows that there's no accounting for taste :D

Seriously, there's some really nice work in that blog post.

Those four shots aren't the cream of your blog and you do need to look at it as a whole, for number one i'd like less sky and more couple. The B&W image has the essence of being a terrific shot there's some intimacy going on there captured very well with timing but my own personal taste i like the black in B&W images to be black. i'm old school when it comes to some shots and this would have been binned as an under exposed image years back, when I see couples in doorways i always go upright to get the natural framing that's there, but going against the norm often works. I do like this image below. I hope you don't mind me putting a direct link in. Also you might want to put something on your blog to prevent right clicking on images - it won't stop everyone "nicking your shots" but will prevent a high percentage...

It's been said already but there are a few more on the blog like 1 and 4 above where the couple are cut off at the chest, waist, thighs, knees and nothing of any real interest in the top of the shot that would indicate why this was done. There are also some cracking shots on the blog so I am wondering if this is a conscious decision you have taken to do this? IMO, it doesn't work.

There's some much better stuff on the blog Graeme. Overall there's a good mix of everything and I can see how you are trying different things. Especially like the shot of the gentleman leaning on the banister, not too sure about the scenic shot that follows.
