I have agreed with a bride a groom that I will put wedding proofs on my website for them to look at and order from.

I am about to put them on my site, but want to know if I should crop them to a more "standard" aspect ratio. They are currently at 3:2 which is what my camera produces, but the pictures of this ratio eg 9x6 and 12 x 8 cannot be put into a standard frame. SO do I crop the pictures to something like a 10x8 before posting onto my site (as in some pics some people may be cut off at this ratio)?

What do you do? This whole aspect ratio thing has got me confused. Why can't shops just sell 3:2 ratio frames

No, you just have a different shaped picture!

we put our proofs onto our password protected site at about 400 x 400 pixels. but we can often have 200 or more proofs per wedding.if they order prints direct form the website( as reprints) were using colourworld imaging imagepartner.co.uk to print and post out. (our albums , we print ourselves.)we also use a 350

One thing to remember with the frame is that you can include a mount and this will make a difference to the aspect ratio, eg.

6x4 image with 1/2" mount gives a total of 7x5 so you need a 7x5 frame.

6x9 image with 1" mount = 8x11 which is approx A4

12x8 image with 2" mount = 16x12

and so on...

Basically for a 3x2 aspect image you need a 4x3 aspect frame and the mount makes up the difference.
