Any of you guys got any advice on what lenses I should take to wedding tomorrow.
Have canon 500d
18-55is
18-135is
55-250is
50-1.8 prime
Don't want to lug to much kit round all day tho.

you're going as a guest I assume?. Take the 50, get a bit drunk, take some really fun photos, enjoy your mates day (& if you're single and they're worth the effort try and pull a bridesmaid  )

Thanks that's what I was thinking don't know if the wife would agree with you tho about the bridesmaid lol.

as hugh said... stick the 50mm on and get amongst the people for some party time candids

Last wedding I went to I took the 50 & 28-75, anything larger would have been pointless. Was chatting to the wedding tog who happened to be a friend of my wife's and came back with a 70-210f4 & 1.7x convertor to try out :D

I was going to ask a similar as I am going to a wedding as a guest today too!

Is it worth taking the flash? Should I put it on for use during the day or rely on the inbuilt flash (I have got a 430EXII).

As above advice, Just try and take some nice candids of some of the more unusual stuff and people enjoying themselfs.

That will be me tomorrow (the sore head at least..). Did the nifty fifty do the business for you?

I think it was the right choice for me too - I got some nice picture. And the sore head that I was expecting....

just remember whenever you go to a wedding, respect the professional and give them space to work if asked. if you point your camera in a different direction to the professional you may capture that special moment they miss. If you try to shoot over their shoulder all you get are images of the same thing, just not as good, as the subject won't be looking down your lens.

There was no pro photographer at the wedding I was at first wedding I've ever been to that didn't have one

The wedding I was at the bride is a professional photographer and the groom a good amateur....

No pressure for the pro that day!

When I spoke to the groom a friend of mine he said as it was both there second marrage they didn't want a photographer wasnt a cost thing or anything like that's there we're 300 plus there with free champagne and beer all day he said there would be enough guest there to take photos if he needed any.
