All,

I am after a preset or at least a guide on how to acehive a certain look in lightroom 4 for wedding photography.

Its a vintagy, pastel type look. Examples are on the below sites (i hope that they dont mind me using them?)

Its quite a nice soft look that i would like to try and use and add my own take on it.

The problem i have is that all my current presents seem to make the light / shots look harsh.

any pointers would be great.

Make your own.

Bit of levels, desaturate, split tone.

Play around, understand how it works and try not to rely on someone else's presets.

erm, not sure what help that was but to be clear I do make my own, i do understand how it works, i have many presets both downloaded and created.
As I said above im not relying on someone elses. Im just using that as a base so that i can tweak to suit my own taste.

For some reason the combos im using just dont get me to where i want. I was simply after a starting point or some advice from someone who has a similar preset / idea that they can let me know of an approach so that i can tweak to tase.

cheers goodfella,

I quite enjoy making my own presents but wish id watched the B&H tuorial before doing so.

They have a great workflow re presets etc that cut time down immensley.

Cheers

Not sure on the 1st one, I like these best, there is some cross process on the blue channel...edit just found she sells the preset here: http://store.mnoo.com/product/photoshop-actions-artistic

Wasnt keen on number 2, didnt spend to much time on them, looks like they have done that curve lift thing on the blacks on a couple to get that washed out dreamy look

The last one left the exif data in so you can copy & make a preset i think it might be an older version of LR so you might have to use the old process

top man, thanks.

At least it gives me a starting point.

I notice a lot of the effects i like are photoshop actions as opposed to ligtroom presets. Maybe lightroom just isnt suitable for this as much,

cheers for the help,

Have revisited this again and found lots of presets that can be purchased and also are free.

I will have a play at the weekend aand try and create something and will share on here.

Also, there are some great B&H tutorial on you tube that cover presets and workflow, although it look like a hugfe task to set it all up initially.
