Good morning. Close friends of ours asked me to photograph the post registry office wedding at the town hall outside Gloucester cathedral. Do you have any tips / hints about the venue, please? I am going to go and visit during the day at the same time of day. Can we get into the cloisters - there is a group of about 20 going to the registry office so not too big. Thanks for taking the time.

If this is not the right place for this post, please move it. Thanks

asking them may prove more fruitful. They may have an opinion on photos on their grounds

I would scout the area beforehand and ask staff info as said above.(y)

You can get into the cloisters, but you will likely have to pay for that amount of people. It's a Donation not a fee, but they get funny about one person going in to photograph sometimes. I usually stick a few quid in the box when I go in with the camera. Outside you won't have any issues, other than tourists.
Bear in mind it's very dark inside and very quiet. The cloisters are also quite narrow.
Another point, if it's a weekday, areas of the Cathedral are closed as the Kings School next door uses some rooms for lessons and exams. They also have thier choir practice in the main area sometimes which makes some parts awkward to get to.

Hi - thanks for helping. It's a Sunday after service time - so they tell me. I will find out when I visit about access. Thanks for helping.. Any more experience out there is very welcome.

So they aren't getting married in church but want the photos in a church :D

At least it's only a couple of minutes walk and there's a small grass area. Have they got any scaffolding around it?

I'd wager that's the reason the majority of people wed in a church ;)

Morning..no, they don't want To go inside the church. They originally just wanted their kids there but it has become bigger as these things do. They want to be in the grounds. It is just me that thinks it would be nice to take some of the couple in the cloisters.

To be fair, I can't think of anywhere closer thats photogenic.

You've got to get in touch with the cathedral and ask them about this, it's a private space and what you're planning isn't discrete and could be disruptive to other visitors. And a decent donation would be the right thing to do.

Ok, thanks for that. I will discuss with the happy ones and explain this to them and fake it from there. Ttfn
