Had a quick look on ebay for wedding photographers advertising their services  would you? if not why not. Also found a portrait photographer check out item 130112633777 :lol::lol:

£50 upwards seems like there are a lot trying this game

I wouldnt because i think it makes you look cheap regardless of your prices

Whats your opinion

Dave

Isn't it the usual marketing ploy of bringing 'em in cheap knowing that they'll probably end up buying quite a few subsequent prints - which will respectively be priced much higher?

i would - sorry will...

but not with cheap prices - we do not all like ebay but it is here to stay so it is a tool to use and many people use it.

I would think may brides will use it to search for wedding dress ideas - long before they book a date.

the way i think is this

if you are the only photographer offering a wedding for £1000 (say) in a list of £300 ers those that cant pay £1000 won't click the link (and waste your time) although some may click to see what you could get for more money - and extend the budget if they like what they see.

I think if there wasn't a demand Ebay auctions like that would disappear. Everyone has the right to market themselves in whatever way they choose.

Please don't tell me to chill. I was making a valid point.

Indeed you are Mark, but to be fair it's a pretty poor advert for portrait photography, certainly not someone i would use if that's how their endorsing themselve's

I'm inclined to agree, but I seem to remember the last thread of this type getting heated and it was generally agreed that ridiculing specific adverts was not really on.

Fair comment, we certainly don't want anymore threads going into disarray :)

I don't think it's a bad idea as one of many marketing tools to promote the business. However, I do think that an excellent image should be used. This image is very poor in my opinion as the white balance is off and the pose is very poor, again, in my own opinion.

This is an electronic equivalent of posting cards through doors!

If the person on ebay, can get customers in, take "x" portraits, give 1 10x8 in a 12x10 frame and make turnover for the business, let's face it, at £50, there won't be much profit! Then he's achieved something. But, if he's got someone in and his selling techniques are good, then he may generate further income!

Carl.

Isn't their website called lazyphoto.com ***?

Surely someone's having a laugh?

Their's actually two on there, lazypics.com and lazyweddings.com, it does appear a bit ironic given how bad the image is, name's like those most certainly don't instill confidence.
