Wedding photographer shot after he asked bride and groom to pose with guns

umm... America :P

Yeah, ok, so I was there during "The Bush Years", but it was the lesser of two evils at the time. ;)

UK, Canada, AUS , USA - I think pretty much they are all right. you should try russia or countries like that ! :D

That would leave a vast, empty, continent on the other side of the Atlantic.....

Actually, when it comes to personal freedom I think the Americans have got it much more sussed out then we have here in the UK. They've got their Second Amendment which gives them the right to defend themselves. What have we got? Nothing! :'(

If I could get the opportunity to live in the States I would jump at it!

Lol, having spent 6 months on 'the other side' I can truthfully say that the grass is indeed a lot greener!

6 months . not enough . did you had to go to hospital, did you get a house insurance etc. some things are ridiculous over there. My Mother lives in FL and I spent 12months in USA as well . If I had a goood job I would pick NY or San Francisco or LA. Oh ! it would take a while to get the green card.

I would love to live in NY, but I don't like the attitude to immigration control etc.

i just dont get it.........

Bride in fluffy white dress
Groom in a suit

what do we need now then for the perfect wedding portrait.................... ah yes a couple of guns?????

We don't need a second amendment.
We already have the right to defend ourselves covered by both UK and European Law.
Comes under our various Human Rights legislations.

A person can use any force reasonable to defend themselves or others, up to and including the use of lethal force if no other option is available.

So if you were about to stab me or someone else with a kitchen-knife and I batter you to death with a cricket-bat (with no more blows that were necessary to prevent you from carrying out the act) then I'm in the clear as long as I can prove there was no other option available to me and I genuinely believed you presented a mortal threat at the time.

Batter to death sounds like a lot more than one or two blows and could be classed as excessive.... Even if you hit the person once and he falls and dies, then you would still most likely be arrested and you'd need to prove that you were under threat of death.....

There's no black and white.

It's always for me to prove in court - no matter what, plus the word 'batter' has many connotations.

As long as I can prove I genuinely felt that my life or the lives of others were in immediate danger and the was no other way to prevent a mortal threat (including the simple expedient of running away), then I'm covered under the Law as it stands and there is no additional requirement for US-style legistlation on the matter - that's all I was pointing out.

the word 'batter' has many connotations.

Generally, the word "batter" is held to mean " to hit heavily and repeatedly with violent blows" or "to subject to repeated beatings or physical abuse", neither of these meanings sits well with the notion of "self defence"....

I was referring to fish...or Mars bars north of the Border...

Bad gun handling by the person owning the guns, what idiot would hand a loaded gun to someone to pose with:cuckoo:

I would never take a gun off someone without them showing me the chamber was empty and I would then double check it again. This accident could have been avoided.

Another candidate for a Darwin Award.
I mean lets be honest, you need to be a Special kind of stupid to not check the guns are loaded.

"In southern Italy and especially Sicily it is common for guns to be fired at family events or festivals as part of the celebrations and in the past this has led to numerous deaths and injuries especially around New Year."

This reminds me of what Andy McNab said in his book Bravo 2 Zero, when he was captured and all around him the Iraqi troops were firing in the air in celebration....he was lying there knowing that if you fire a bullet straight up in the air, it's going to come back down as well! :cuckoo:

I was in Baghdad when Iraq won the Gulf states footie champs - we all though the war had broken out again there was so much celebratory fire going on. A moment of 'shock and awe' with tracer lighting up the sky all over the city...We stood and watched til it dawned on us that...yes, what goes up must come down...somewhere...
The Yanks down at the Embassy returned fire at the Iraqi army camp across the river (they thought they were being attacked), killing two. I think six civilians were killed that night by falling ordnance.
At our location at the British Support Unit, it was like a mild hailstorm for about 15 minutes. Three rounds went through our corrimec while we huddled together in the doorway of the nearest hardened shelter (the toilet), giggling like kids...

Fun times...
