Wedding photographer shot after he asked bride and groom to pose with guns

THat is really shocking :( I don't like guns, Went to a gun club in America as a guy I was with wanted to go - wouold never go near a gun again..... Why do people like these things?

Its very sad. I don't get why people want to pose with guns.

No idea either. I love my legally owned rifles, but I would never pose with them for a photograph. They are not toys, they should be respected for what they are, weapons. Not something you just toy around with like this.

EOS_JD please don't confuse all gun owners with the people you met in the USA. Especially British gun owners, it is very different here.

To be fair, if the photo of the couple on the DM site was one of the pics the tog took then the shooting may not have been accidental.....:naughty:

There's nothing wrong with guns - just some of the idiots who handle them. These guns should never have been loaded in this situation, but the probablity is the owners didn't even know they were loaded - total disregard for basic gun handling routine and fatal complacancy where gun handling is concerned.

There are only 2 occasions when you point a gun at anyone regardless of whether it's loaded or not...

A Shotgun fitter will ask you to mount the gun to your shoulder and point the gun at his eye to check how the gun fits you. It's a curtesy to show him the gun is empty first and if he doesn't ask he's an idiot, but I've seen it.

The other occasion is you fully intend to kill that person, but you better have a good reason!

That's an awful tragedy - sickeningly stupid!

What an awful tragedy for everyone involved.

No, they're not toys, but as a legal and presumably responsible owner, YOU should have no problem posing with guns. You know how to handle them, you know how to make sure they're not loaded and safe, and you're the one holding them.

There are plenty of shooters, instructors, cops, etc. out there who pose with guns for photos for advertising, brochures, magazines, and so on. But, it's done safely.

That said, I'd never put a gun in the hands of somebody who didn't know what they were doing (like this couple obviously didn't).

As for the photographer. Definite Darwin Award candidate.

Did they get any decent shots of the wedding first. :nono:

I'm an ex gun owner, but only high powered air rifles and used to club shoot.

I made the mistake Once and Once only of allowing someone to pick up my loaded rifle. The shock of it going off even though it luckily hurt nobody was something I would never like to repeat.

" The Gun is always loaded and the horse always kicks "

Sadly this has cost a life for one second clicking on the safety. :(

Because they're fun.

And they allow you to close with and kill the enemy with less danger to yourself.:cuckoo:

...or would you prefer swords?

god - I know there are some bad wedding photographers out there, but calling them the enemy and attacking with guns and swords is going a little far?

They're the ones that turn up with white vinyl shoes, an entry-level DSLR and a kit lens...

Seriously they should be publicly eviscerated...:D

but only in such a way as you don't risk getting blood on the dress

when you have kittens at home, you have cat problems.
when you have guns, you have gun problems. simple as that ! :)

Best thing about the vast majority of the anti gun lobby?

"LEGALIZE MARIJUANA AND EXTREME PORN! I HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE!

BUT BAN GUNS!"

Urgh.

It's easier to legislate against guns than it is to legislate against stupidity after all...

We should just let natural selection deal with stupidity though, surely? Protecting the stupid is only going to lead to bad things as a species - survival of the thickest anyone?

That's what I always said. Take the warning labels off everything, and let natural selection sort itself out.

Wedding and guns??? hmmmm strange theme.

After 8 years of Bush, the smart ones have already emmigrated anyway. ;)

it's not that bad. it depends on what kind of people you see daily. same applies to UK. this is a discussion with no right or wrong, it's just - how do you look at it.

Indeed it does, and when Labour got into power I left the UK for 10 years. ;)

the way I see it - politics will always be politics. Used to care about it. what a waste of time. + there will never be a perfect country, have to develop the world around you, not rely on politicians. I used to think - I'll never live in USA unless it's not bushy. now wit Obama - have the things really changed ? don't think so. some small tweeks maybe.

p.s. - where did you go for 10years ?
