I have a close friend(honestly i have, its not me) whom is getting married next July in london and was asking me what she should be looking at budgeting for her photographer. I think she wants her morning photographed eg, getting ready, then the ceremony, all the guests, then the banquet at night.

any thoughts and maybe some ideas of who would maybe be good to give a call.

Depending on the preference for a book, digital files etc then you should be looking at £1500+

As for recommendations you should start here.

London based photographers and those that work there from outside as well. Hard to make a specific recommend out of all of them but Paul White is an exceptional wedding photographer and fashion photographer and he'll make your friend look amazing in her portraits and capture some stunning documentary work during the day...

Thank you so much for replies, i will pass on your sites and see how it goes! ive looked at both sites and the pics are amazing! maybe if they mention talk they will get a discount!

My wife is dying for me to get a shoot in London just cos I'd need a 'helper' and the trip would last 3 days :D

So at the risk of sounding like I will travel further than the end of our road, please pass on my details too :)

PS - all profits are strictly for hotels, travel and eating out - at wifey's orders :D

Most photographer's websites have prices or at least guide prices - it can be so individual there is no "Its £xxx much" that covers every couple's wishes

As a hint though...

My current all day shoot (prep to 1st dance) with all edited images license free (to print etc. as they see fit) is just £990

I only deal with Graphistudio - http://www.graphistudio.com/en_GB/products - as I believe they are the best and represent good value too - and most of my couples spend around £750 on theirs, with Parents' Albums too costing as little as £150 for a pair of them

But in my market I'm in the top quartile for pricing as most near me are rubbish photographers, there are a number of good part-timers who charge less as they have a main income elsewhere, but few of them can offer truly great albums and an all day shoot for much less than £1,000

I don't know the London market but I'd guess that as the cost of living there is much more than up Norff their costs would have to be higher

As I said earlier though - there's be no travel or accommodation costs for me as al the profit would simply turn it into a weekend away with my lovely wifey :)

Its all Yvonne's fault :D

Dave

Its ALWAYS my fault, every time!! :p

Anyway, in answer to the OP.... yes, I would be looking somewhere around the 900-1000+ for the coverage/images, plus 500+ for a good album. You can easily double those figures with some good London photographers.

However she also needs to look at styles of photos - certainly those of us that have posted in here aren't so far different from each other on costs but all have differing styles, but that is something only she can decided on. Any good photographers will have a good range of photos on their websites/blogs that will give a really good idea of what she can expect to get out of her own wedding photos, so make sure she doesn't make the mistake of booking on price only ;)

Have spoken to her yesterday and she is going to be in touch with a few in the near future to have a chat on what she is after. thanks for all your comments!
