Hi folks,
I've just bought a Bowens Explorer 1500 two head kit for on-location commercial work and Weddings.
The Generator was heavier than I expected, so thats now on a small two wheel camping trolley.
My assistant will handhold one of the strobes and wheel the generator about.
Do you think this setup is ok for weddings? I've not used it yet.
Thanks
Gavin

you know your shooting style better than we do, is it viable for you to limit locations to places your assistant can drag it? (isn't for me)

Do you need the power?

oh and it has to work, you've bought it :D

You're planning on lugging that thing around a church and wedding reception? What on earth for?

Take it back if you can, and get some proper mobile kit. Most people manage fine with a hot-shoe gun or three...

Now you've got it use it as a USP. ;)

Im never shootin weddings...

Im kit building and have 2 x 550EX with battery packs of x8 rechargable batteries...(so 12 in total)...they last ages...

The Calumet 300b and battery pack look reasonable & review well...

I imagine these would be more mobile and less costly too boot...

I have a Bowens Gemini with Travel Pack which substantially lighter than what you have, and it is STILL to cumbersome to use at a wedding.

I really can't be bothered with it (even though I have an assistant), it takes too long to connect up and is awkward to move around.

Now I just use speedlights & PW's.

What he said! I can't imagine lugging that much gear round a wedding, or any other event really. If you absolutely need more power than a hot-shoe flash will give you i'd look at Quantum Q Flash or the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra.

....the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra.

Small, lightweight, adapter to use with Eli full size modifiers. I know I would rather use a beauty dish than an umbrella personally, especially on a windy day!
