Not the usual. I may be jumping the gun, but recent messages on Facebook appear to indicate the bride and groom I was due to shoot on the 20th of this month have split up! They booked me 2 years ago, they are both friends I've known for while, so its quite sad if it is the case.

They have been together for years too. Such a shame.
 
It is sad but until you here it from the horses mouth so to speak, I wouldn't rely on facebook for factual content.:eek:

You could give them a call. Just to say that every thing at your end is ok and ask them if any of their arrangements have changed.
 
Knowing them as I do, that would be the worst thing to do!
I shall keep quiet until I know for sure what's going on, no doubt if something has happened, the bridesmaid will tell me, as its my wife's best friend since school and also the brides best friend for many years and they live virtually next door to each other.
 
As I thought, bridesmaid just rang. Wedding is cancelled.
 
I suppose, just feel really sorry for both of them. They recently bought a house and a dog, now it looks its all gone overnight.

indeed - me and Ben once shot a wedding where the happy couple split up at the reception ... that was awkward for all concerned.
 
before the first dance , not long after the groom found out that the bride and the best man had been ...ahem... 'celebrating the day' in the toilets . In a decision which undoubtedly felt justified , and demonstrated that revenge is indeed a dish best served with a big **** off spoon, but was hugely awkward for everyone attending, rather than just binning the whole thing on the spot he said nothing until it came to the speeches, and then used the "grooms speech" to communicate his new found knowledge, his opinion of their conduct and the fact that he'd be seeking an annulment on the moro. Ouch

This happened to us, a couple who booked a year and a half ago mailed us last month, they were due to be wed on December 7th.
 
I shot a wedding once and it was a big do,as i was taking the bride outside for some shots she tol me she didn't want any of her and the groom,as she leaving him as soon as the wedding was over,i asked why she had gone ahead she just said it had cost so much and she wanted her day :confused:

Sounds similar to my situation I've just experienced
 
Sad when people let it get so far, they must have known months ago it wasn't going to happen. They may have been able to get some money back from the various suppliers too.

Yes I got paid, and I'm Keeping quiet unless they say anything. I booked the day off work, bought and hired some stuff, so there is very little of it left anyway.
 
Totally agree with you Tom, we got asked if they could have their money back and I pretty much said the contract states no, I gave them their deposit back in the end as a gesture of good will but said to the Bride that unfortunately asI have in theory lost business.

Thankfully they understood but you are not telling me that people don't know months in advance, " oh I just woke up and hate you now." don't think so
 
The opposite happened to me very recently. I hear that a couple who's wedding I shot less than a year ago have split up. They seemed so happy, and they adored the images. I also did them a slide show to their favourite music. The first thing I thought when I heard was 'well, they'll probably never look at those photos again!"

I don't think it necessarily happens like that. I know three couples who were engaged and looking forward to getting married, but had second thoughts as the day approached. It just crept up on them, and they tried to ignore it, but finally decided not to go ahead. Two of these couples are still together and happy.
