Was looking for recommendations for sending images off and getting put on a cd with a nice cover/sleeve etc

Cheers

Thanks
That looks good
Whats the protocol for sending images etc?
There will be around 300 images, do they need to be a certain size/resolution ?

Nope. Just design your artwork, order it up and it get's delivered to you. I use the folio and USB card which they also engrave, and from there, I add the image files, slideshow, license etc., package it all up in my packaging and send them all the bits as an inviting little parcel :)

EDIT: Ah, just seen...you're wanting someone to put these on for you. Sorry - can't be of help there then, but personally I wouldn't trust anyone else to add the final product and despatch it for me.

Ok thats great.
Sorry, ive never done this before.
So they send the blank disk?
Would a DVD disk be better for photo images?

It's entirely up to you, whether it be CD DVD or USB. The reason I use USB is that I can add/amend the files once on there if need be and the amount of memory I need varies greatly between shoots. I have specific packaging and it would not fit an additional DVD etc. It's just easier all round for me.
But each to their own :-)

I use an Epson DVD printer. And burn and print them here. for 300 images, you will need a DVD (unless the image size is stingy)

I have used Loxley in the past, They just print the disk and you burn it yourself, the product is good, watch the DVD for scratches I had to get 2 redone but the 2nd ones came perfect.

We burn them ourselves onto lightscribe discs , usb or stock dvd covered and get a nice cover like those above

Light scribe?

It might be time to call those a day.

Chris I didn't see it was you, I have one as a sample if you want to see one in the flesh

we just give people the choice phil, be it usb, lightscribe or stock with printed front.

We don't make the decision for them.
I personally prefer usb but loads of people this end dont seem to like usb's, maybe their players and tv's dont have a usb drive I don't know.

Eitherway so long as people pay I will supply whatever they want, hell as much as i totally hate it we even have a couple who have asked for one of two shots to be selective colour. :(

But hes a forces guy and wants a flag in selective so so be it, if they pay then I can put up with it.

Nice disc or usb covers are always nice though, the Americans have a few nice usb suppliers

If you give clients a choice, they are goin to choose so just don't give them the choice.
If the option isn't there then they can't be picky, and if they ask, you can say that you are perfectly happy for them to burn the images to CD/DVD from the USB if they wish. Problem solved. :-)
Would save many headaches and you could then focus on investing in branded uniform packaging and image delivery format.

I've only ever had two requests like that, and both times I've politely said no but if they really do want 'selective colour' *shudder* once they have the images then there are plenty of pieces of software they can use themselves.

It's your product at the end of the day and as long as you don't have any showing on your site/portfolio then I'd say it wouldn't be a surprise to them when you say no. Haven't had and loss of bookings for saying no to it.

Good input there, yes its funny the couple are lovely pair, and it was all going so well til they mentioned the selective. haha

Personally I really really hate it, just looks cheap in my eyes but then for one do I think as they were so nice we can push the boundary of my limits. :)

Might be the best idea with regards to the usb solution there, I can't believe some peoples dvd and bluray players don't have usb ports, I thought all tv's nowdays had usb and hard drive ports, I know all three of my samsungs have for the last 4 years but a few people over the last year have moaned and said "oh but how can we play on our tv to view" hence the options.

But might well be the best idea there like

Cheers for the help guys.
In the end i went for the USB stick from Loxley, and it looks superb!!!
Has anyone tryed an album from them?

I use the USBs from Loxley - really good quality.
I use them for prints mainly - which are excellent, but I do have a sample album with them which is really good - but it gets blown out of the contest by my GraphiStudio ones when it comes to couples choosing.
