Ok, I know this has probably been hit many times but instead of asking what I should buy, I just wondered what all you guys carried as a basic wedding kit.

We know about the bodies and extras but what lenses do you guys find are the best for the big day?

Copy cat!! There's hardly any difference between our kit. Except you have my old 14-24 and (after missing it too much) I went and bought another!! :bonk:

You got the video light then? Which one??

I got the R3 in the end Ryan. 80W can turn it up and down and has barn doors soft focus filter and a halogen filter on it. 2 Hr battery life and easy to hand hold. Was £160 at Focus because a few of us bought them together and we ganged up, sorry haggled with the seller.

Although I love the Lowel it's bigger, heavier more cumbersome with that battery pack and at £450 was just not a good buy for an extra 20W. I'll take 4/5 of the power for 1/3 of the price :)

Thanks for all the peeps who took the time to answer,

I think Im in need of a new purchase but was unsure what to go for.

I have the wide's and zoom's covered but I think its time for me to have a look at some prime's.

I was talking to another tog who covers weddings and he said I should go for a fisheye... I just dont think it would work for me !!! lol!

Hi Ali,

Have you got a manufacturer's (or retailer's) link to that video light please? :)

Thanks,
Si

Don't buy a fish eye. There a probably 2 or 3 other lenses that you could make better use of before a fisheye.

2 x 5D classics
24-105L f4 IS (95% of shots)
50 f1.4 (little used)
85 f1.8 (3% of shots)
70-200L f4 IS (2% of shots - if I can be arsed to get it out)

Considering getting a 16-35L f2.8 (or 17-40L f4) and to have that on one body and the 70-200L f4 IS on the other because I think that the 35 - 70 focal length is redundant for wedding photography. Would have to keep the 24-105 in the bag though in case it didn't work out. A few wedding togs use 2 FF bodies with a 35L on one and an 85L on the other and shoot the whole wedding this way. I must say that the 35L is an excellent reportage lens.
