I've done many weddings over the years and produced many really stylish albums. What I'd like to start doing and yes I've not done it before is DVD Slidshows. I have had it done by a third party but would really like to keep this part of the service in house. Can anyone reccomend which software to use and any other helpful tips?

Cheers
Terry

Hi Terry, if you are using a Mac you can do it right there.

If using a PC I'd recommend Pro Show Gold or Pro Show Producer from Photodex.

Import the music, import the pics and set up the transitions so they match the music. The automated button gets the software to do the timings for you but I prefer to do them manually if I have time to do it. Takes me about 30mins now :)

Snap!!

Snap! Darn ;)

I really like it now. The first time I used it I spent about 1/2 day doing one slideshow, now I can rattle them through a lot quicker. I've got used to reading the music bit now and sliding the pics about :)

2 or 3 choices and it really depends on your views.

1. Proshow Producer is fantastic! Probably the single best programme to create amazing shows - easily too using their Slide Styles!

2. Proshow Gold - Similar to the above but not quite as flexible - You can get just as nice shows though.

You need to be careful of copyright (music) though.....

3. What about a web based one? I'm currently starting to look at Animoto! THeir shows really are very eye catching with every one different! You can have your clients view them on line for a limited time too. You can also buy hi res versions to sell too!

Just something to consider.....

But on the whole - If you want to do them yourself, Producer is the way to go for a pro.

Wow that was sooo quick a response. Thanks everyone I shall have a look at all things suggested.

Many Thanks
Terry

I was advised to check out this website earlier - the output is simply stunning, can be embedded info flash sites, HTML sites, download as MP4 files or a hi-res ISO!

Sorry to jump on the thread - but what sort of music do people usually use - what's good to go along with a wedding slideshow? Any suggestions would be great!

To comply with the law it should be royalty free or you need a license from the Performing Rights Society. I quite like classical music but you do need to check up on royalties.

I ended up buying 4 tracks from a local composer and I can use them as often as I like and for commercial use too :)

I like the idea of buying something from someone locally Alison - sounds a great idea! - was it someone you already knew?

Funnily enough no! I went looking for royalty free music and there are sites where you can listen to samples before buying and I really liked his music so I bought the four tracks. Then I found him on facebook so I could say thanks :) Turned out he lives in Preston.

I was using Adobe Premiere but it was so time consuming and the rendering on a PC would take forever (I did a 16 minute engagement slideshow - just photos, and it took about 30hrs, not the fastest PC but still !). I now use Slideshow Producer on the same PC, easy to use, good transitions (editable) and it renders in an acceptable time (30 minutes for a 10 min slideshow i did last night).
Then I use handbrake to create a iphone version for family viewing when I out and about.

i was at a mark cleghorn thing the other day and they had some Animoto slideshows, they are quite eye catching.

Looking into myself
