Wedding book prices??

I will be starting to create wedding books with blurb books through Lightroom.

Unsure on how much I should be charging. Obviously I can see how much the different size books will cost me in Lightroom then should I mark up by multiplying by 2.35 plus add on for postage and packing and then hours taken (this is difficult to work out as I'm unsure how long it will take me).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You'll always be limited in what you will be able to charge for a Blurb book as it really is a low end product with respect to the wedding industry. Although I'm a massive proponent that you should charge for your images you rarely see stunning work presented in a DIY book as an album and so it sets a level of expectation.

The biggest other factor is whether your time to create a book is excluded from the over all coverage fee you are charging or if you are charging:

coverge (+disk) + book + design time

or if you are internally masking the design time either in the coverage fee or the book cost.

At around £30 to produce I'd struggle to see how you could charge much more than £120 for the designed book.

I use GF Smith.

I find their software a bit of a pain in the backside and a little frustrating but the actual albums they produce are stunning

20 page 'expressions' album with thick durable pages, lovely quality printing and a faux leather embossed cover costs me £175. I think Folio are twice the price and when I got a sample off them and compared it side by side to the GF Smith album I much prefered GF Smith
 
As above, use proper album companies, would you really want to be selling products your customers can get for themselves?

Like Andy I too use GF Smith, great company to deal with. I hate their software, not for the use but for the proofing, I use Photojunction and the paste the high res output straight into the GF Smith software.

There are loads of album companies though, with pro's and con's to match, what are your priorities?
