I know a lot of people have brought up the subject of creating websites ... so my apologies if I am going over old ground.

Basically, what I'm looking to do is have a 'shopfront' ,as it were, which I could link to my current albums on photobox.

I like using photobox for their printing ... the quality is good and turnaround on orders is good too.

But I'd like my customers to be able to see a more professional website when they first access my site. So, what I was thinking is to have a 'professional' looking site with examples of my work and details about me and so on ... but with links to specific albums... which would be still on the photobox site. Anyone give me some tips as to how I could do this??

Thanks

Seeing as no one else has answered with something that does it automatically I'd suggest making one yourself, there are plenty of simple editors that you don't need to know HTML for (I believe you can use Microsoft Word for this, or even better iWeb if you are on Apple) or if you want total freedom get your hands on a HTML book, it isn't really all that hard.

I find that a lot of the time the templates available don't fit exactly what is needed, I am in a similar situation where I need a decent homepage that links to my Lightroom generated galleries an I'm having to do that myself.

I like to use templates, customised to my use. At present my site's going through it's 3rd rebuild... yes, I have too much time. But I'm not happy with it, and it'll continue to get changed til I am.

I use www.freecsstemplates.org to find a decent template, then change it to how I want.

I believe Photobox allows some form of site linking does it not?

A couple of options spring to mind - either, photobox's professional sites, whihc seem quite good, or, the methid I use which is to build you own basic site [using a simple website application program], add albums using jalbum [free download and excellent] with the 'selling' activated - it uses paypal and you can order direct for photoshop, using your paypal account to pay for the prints you have already received the money for.

I use the Jalbum/paypal route as well though the printing is done through different companies depending on the job.

My site had an redesign over Easter but I did it the "hard" way. I created a template file using CSS in dreamweaver and then basically copy/pasted text into the empty template and saved it with a new name. I then copied the CSS & menus into the templates for Jalbum and Wordpress so the entire site is now using the same style. Finding my way around the Jalbum and Wordpress templates took the best part of a day as I'd never looked at them before but it wasn't especially hard. There's probably a few bits that I'll tweak as and when but the template route does make everything nice and simple

you should opt for trying to make yourself one , buy a html for dummies book and a more advanced one and you should be set :)

Many thanks for all your suggestions. I may just have a go at designing my own.
Has anyone any experience of Clikpic...I notice they advertise a lot in the magazines. Wondered whether they are as good as they appear.
