Yes
After many weeks of threatening to do this, I've finally got round to getting my site into some sort of order, still a few tweaks and some more images to load up.

Its only a template based site as I know zip about HTML etc....

I was just wondering if it looks half decent on other peoples screens/viewers.

The reason I've sorted it out now is, I've had a few friends ask about taking portrait shots etc...so should it start to develop any further then I'm kind of covered, if you know what I mean?

I've still to finish the about us part, as I'm not sure what to put, do you blag saying I've started up a business etc...(which I haven't) or do I tell the truth, that I'm a keen part time amateur photographer who has set up the site with a view to developing my abilities and having a point of contact for customers to view their images and to display other work in my gallery?

I've also setup an ecommerce part, which will go in the prices section, I'm just waiting for this to be activated.

Any thoughts on any of the above would be great, or if you think, tell me to stop now and quit while I'm ahead  :suspect:

I'm hopeless at this HTML too, so I find it encouraging that you've managed to set this up with limited knowledge - it's something I keep meaning to get round to doing. I did have a site yonks ago, but it was set up for me.

It looks fiine to me. I'm no authority, but it 's quick and snappy to use - those fancy pages with animations that take forever to load are just a turn off in the end. I like the black background to display your pics on.

The home page looks a bit basic with that simple font, I dunno if it's anything you have any control over, but it's no biggy the site does the job.

As to what you tell people about your status, it's up to you really, but it matters not until you start making dosh so make sure you keep records of outgoings and incomings if anyone *cough* asks. ;)

Looks good from here too Glen ...

I wanted to use JAlbum too and had no trouble setting up the galleries themselves ... but buggered if I could do anything about the front end or other texty stuff pages ... so I gave up ...

Well done you for doing what I couldn't and with your limited Zip knowledge ... mine must be minus 100 Zip in that case ... :D

:p

just checked it out mate, looking good here too, using Opera 8.
is JAlbum free to use, or at least cheapish..

oh, and how did you go about giving it a www of your own, as you say its only template driven site..

On both my monitors your front page breaks up slightly.
Here are examples of what I can see.

If you set you table width to the resolution you wish it to veiwed at,
and align to centre, the page will look the same on most resolutions.

Also try validating your web pages here, it will help you clean up any nasty coding.

The design of the page looks good.

HTH

apart from the break it looks fine to me.

Nice looking and simple to navigate

a  from me

I'm yet to build my site... so I can't offer cant comparison advice... It works fine, looks nice. ....I get the split graphics too, well worth sorting those alignment problems.

One thing I did notice, if I click ‘download’ I get a larger image that I can view ... but also isn't it large enough so that people may steal it now? .

I think it looks really clean and tidy. I can also see the banding effect across the top of the page, but I didn't view it as a problem, I thought that the effect was deliberate.
The only negative comment I can make is that I was not expecting the gallery to open in a new window; didn't really like that.
I thought that the overall look of the site was very proffessional - well done.
Gareth.

Cheers for all the feedback everyone.

Matt, i'm running 1280x1024 this is my monitors max setting and all looks fine. But when I Change to 1024x768 it still looks OK

The only trouble now trying to change things is the whole site is set up using a wizard provided by streamline (apart from the galleries which are JAlbum) and also I no nowt about HTML.

I have run the test you gave me and it came up with 70 errors....
Here is a link to them, to be honest its all a bit over my head :cuckoo:

If you can shed some light that would be great, you did mention table width, could you give me a few pointers.
