Looking for a bit of advice guys.

My son has paid someone to build him a website for his business (not photography related).

Basically, he has been charged quite a large fee for what is effectively a wordpress website using a free template.

He is going to tell the guy he wants a refund of the bulk of the fee charged (he's happy to pay the guy for the little work done).

Does anyone know a way to capture the site as it stands before this guy has a chance to take it down, either saving page by page or, as a video, to give him backup to his claim should the need arise.

This guy has charged in excess of £1500 and, has done the equivalent of something even I could throw together in a couple of days.

Thanks.

surely if you get a designer to design you a website, you agree on the design before the work starts. So if your son was happy with it don't think it matter if it was built with free or paid template. I never deal with wordpress as it's slow, too many average developers working on it too so it's a bit of frankenstein of CMS :)

does he has access to cpanel where that website is hosted? you can save website for offline browsing (as html) but it won't have sql databse so nothing is gonna work

if you share website domain i could point all issues about that website :)

Who is hosting the website?

Can you give me the URL to the site? via PM if you prefer

If this is a business and they've done things right, your sons highly likey to be told do one...

Sadly, no access to cpanel.

Sorry if my post was misleading guys, just looking for a way to take screenshots.

A couple of days of my time would be more than £1500 ;) Just because his input materials may have zero costs doesn't mean his time shouldn't be chargeable. The key challenges should be whether what has been done has met (or more importantly from your point of view) not met the design brief and why. Also in order to build a site one could start with laying out the information architecture first, such that it becomes recognisable and then start applying a visual and bespoke graphical design through it by applying your theme.

Key is the brief and the contract what you, your son, asked them to do.
