Can anyone explain why Firefox does not recognice <td bgcolor="transparent"> ??

Works fine in IE7 but not in Firefox :shrug:

I have a table of photos, and I need the background of the cells to be transparent. Or is there anything I can put in the tables section of my style sheet?

It's simple, bgcolor="transparent" isn't defined in the w3 recommendation.
It's just IE that has it implemented.

Make a style with background:transparent; for the td, or better, make it a class
Not sure IE will display it, as its css support is still behind.

The transparent attribute will make the element inherit the background of its parent element. So, if you're trying to make a td element have the background of body while you have table background set, it won't work.
The td element will inherit background of the parent table element.

Could you post a screenshot of what you're trying to achieve?
