Hi all,

www.redcarpetphotos.co.uk needs sorting! As you will probably guess, the only content is a very quick lightroom gallery just so that there is something there.

However, I'm really out of touch, what's recommended for building a website these days? I have an ancient version of Dreamweaver which refuses to work on Vista, but I'm more than happy to use a template-based approach.

I guess I just want something smart that includes links to galleries (which I will still use Lightroom for) and some simple 'about me' pages etc.

Any advice greatfully received! Would rather not have to pay for any software, so freeware would be amazing.

Cheers,
James

If you were on a mac, I'd recommend using iWeb, which I used for my website, but since it looks like you're not, I won't! :D

If you fancy getting your teeth into something, and your host allows it, play with joomla CMS and one of the gallery plugins such as Gallery2.

I'm certainly no web developer, but managed to alter a premade template to suit my own needs!!

My site if you'd like a look!

That's pretty swish, although I don't think my hosting supports PHP or MySQL without me paying extra and as I'm a skinfint...that ain't going to happen!

Thanks,
James

Sorry, I've probably misled you - galleries I am FINE with as Lightroom will do all the hard work. I really just wanted a nice looking template or similar to get the site that will build them up into a proper site rather than just one gallery like I have now ;)

Thanks,
James

ah right..

again, though, anything that involves something other than plan html/css pages, then your going to be stuck.

There might be some decent flash templates out there that you might be able to use, seeing as your gallery is in flash...

You do know that Flash 9 supports CSS right? You can style certain elements in Flash using CSS. Flash templates are actually fairly common.
