Hi

i just brought my domain name from 1&1 now i want to host it with zenfolio, what do i do.

do i go to set up my website and type in my domain name and hey presto. How do they know i own the domain name?

PLEASE HELP

thank

Mark

Hmmm! looks a not bad site. I'd imagine Mark your gonna have to upload some photos into a album you create on their site. I looked at a couple of galleries there and they all seem to have the url
Code:
http://garyjean.zenfolio.com/
for example. looks like you would use the username they gave you then zenfolio.com to access your album. They will know its yours cos they must have given you a username and password to create a album and upload photos to them.

thanks.

so i have to just make it and then enter my domai name and it should be used

Taken from their advert :
If you own a domain name, like www.myphotosite.com, it can become the Web address to all your galleries and photo pages

You probably set this up along with your galleries. Is it a free trial your using or have you actually paid the fee? Let us know how you get on with it cos I might be intersted.

Unless zenfolio let you use your own domain, you won't be able to, they will have to set there servers up so your domain will point to your gallery you have setup there.

Might be better to talk to them rather than ask questions here, in my humble opinion

Unless I am not understanding what you are trying to acheive.

i am doing a free trial and if i do join up i can give you a free $5 discount so i will let you know if i do.

It's the other way around actually. The DNS for your domain with 1&1 would point at their servers not zenfolio's. Anyway, this ISN'T hosting in the traditional sense. You need to go back to 1&1 and configure the "web forwarding" for your domain to the zenfolio account. That way whenever someone types "www.yourdomain.com", 1&1 will redirect the request to your zenfolio pages.

It's a CNAME you need but most hosts call it "web forwarding" for the sake of simplicity.
