Hiya everyone

I have just sorted a website out and wondered if you lovely people would be kind enough to give me some feedback on it - I still have to sort out my Paypal account so that bit isn't fully functional yet.

I've never done a website before and also wondered what your thoughts are on the logo on my homepage.

Thanks for any comments, here it is

Alison :)

Not a bad effort, I personally don't like the grey templates that Photium can bring about because they look a bit bland. The logo is ok for the time being but you may want to change it at a later as I think it could be a lot better.

The homepage - I don't like the fact that you have a picture form each gallery going all the way down the right, with the left having hardly any content. Maybe have one large picture that when clicked, links to your gallery page?

Links page - Take it down until you have links on there, and only have links that are going to be of interest to people you're targeting if you're going to put some up.

Maybe have an About me page? Who are you? Why do you have the website, are you a full time tog, a passionate amateur? I want to know more about the person behind the images.

A nice site, and with Photium a week or so of tinkering can bring about a really nice site. You're on the right tracks, just keep experimenting.

Thanks for the feedback Dave, I really appreciate it.

I am working on the About Page at the moment so that should be live in a day or two.

Have you got any suggestions on the logo then as you say it could be a lot better?

Alison :)

look good, have you thought about watermarks? :)

Hi Alison,

I'm inclined to agree with Dave's comment about the huge empty space on the left hand side. Perhaps add more text to your 'welcome' message to fill the space, or play with the different homepage layouts Photium offer.

As your aim is to sell prints, it might be beneficial to have an additonal page expalining a bit more about what you get for your money, plus info on P&P and delivery timescales?

Also, and as someone pointed out to me when I asked for feedback on my site, I might be tempted to either remove the photo titles or rename them with something a bit more creative. I decided to remove mine as I can never some up with a creative photo title :)

Other than that, nice looking site.

By the way, my site is designed using Photium, and I found it quite easy to get a good looking site up and running within 2 weeks and your well on your way :)

Site looks great, nice and fresh & clean looking, only niggle I can see is when clicking the links between gallery, links, contact and guestbook the whole wrapper that encloses the white area in the centre moves back and forward a pixel or two. It does not happen when you click links from Home to Gallery though. That is using Firefox 3.6.8.

Using IE 8 it only happens between Gallery and Links.

Similar on Safari. Fix these little problems and it will be a really good looking site. well done.

Thanks, I haven't used watermarks but I have got the photos copywright protected if anyone tries to click on them.

Thanks Darren, I will have a play with the different layout settings and see what I think.

I need to sort the pricing details out, as I said that part isn't finished yet, so work in progress so to speak.

I take on board what you're saying about the photo titles, so will look at that too.

I had a quick look on your site by the way and I like the way you've worded things, not too keen on the black though (just my personal taste of course).

Thanks for all the feedback, much appreciated

Thanks Frank, that's the look I was aiming for - nice, clean and fresh so glad that's what it comes across like.

Not sure what's causing the white area problem - I will send a support request to the guys at Photium and see what they think

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it :)

Alison...the black had been mentioned by a few and it had mixed opinions! I went with it because, as a backdrop, it's suits all pictures. My other problem is that my banner is black so any attempt to tone down the background will make it look a bit 'odd'.

Thanks for your kind words about the way in which I have written the content, I've tried to make it feel laid back, relaxed and honest :)

I think it's just personal choice when it comes to the background colour Darren - loads of people love black so hope I haven't offended you.

Yes, that's the way your wording comes across - like you're down to earth and honest :)

yeah i noticed that though, and i can still take a screen shot, which would be no harder to do than download / copy and paste! :)

site looks good none the less!
