Ok peeps, I need to have a website built for my sport photography, can be fairly basic, it should allow people to view but not copy pictures from motorcycle race meets with the option of contacting me and should be able to list the dates and venues I will be going too !

What sort of price would I be looking at for something like this ?

Cheers

Really depends on how bespoke you want it to be, or whether an off the shelf system (and to some extent the skin) would suit. The first question anyone will ask is pretty much the mirror of your question - "what's your budget?"

How long is a piece of string

That is a very very basic brief, just like you can buy a cheap compact to a top of the range DSLR the same applies to bespoke websites.

On the picture front, if you don't want them stolen/lifted/used without permission then don't put them on the internet in the first place... it is as simple as that

Its hard to protect stuff these days on line, even a big watermark can be cloaned out. I think they best thing you can do is have the quality low enough so people wont get a good print but it wont stop people saving and using them online themselves

I only ever upload low res files to the internet, that way only a small print can be made from it.

Paul, have you looked at this thread http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=79231

If you go it alone and learn it yourself you could have a website up and running for about £30 per year (depending on how much you upload). If it's only to display the photos and provide a point of contact then look into Wordpress, there's tons of themes available and lots of plugins to build your site when you're ready.

As the other have said, any picture you upload can be stolen, a mixture of low resolution and watermarks is the basic option.

Get Wordpress. Buy ProPhoto4 theme. Build your own in a few days!

I'm a total noob at web stuff. Whilst not great, my web site was made by me based on the ProPhoto4 themes. Cost £125 and have total control over the site.

Regards images, you cannot stop people stealing images from the web - Impossible.

You can however limit their use and you can download plubins that make basic copying of your images much harder.

there are other ways iof the person knows what they are doing but for mant the removal of right click/drag is enough to make them stop.

Good luck.
