Website background image

Hello,

just looking for any web designers to answer me a very basic question.

if i want to use a photo as a background to a website, what dimensions do i use and how do i stop them showing scroll bars when window minimised?

secondly, relating to the above, if i was to create a holding page for a developing website and have an image i would like to use, how do i get that to fill the page? again what dimensions would you recommend?

I needed to do that a while back for one of our clients and used that same tutorial. Worked for me.

I seem to remember there being a few cross-browser issues though.
