Hello all

Over the past month or two I have spent some time developing my site and would really appreciate some feedback.

Amongst the work I have done is:
1. SEO - followed some guides and think I'm on either page 1 or 2 in the Google organic search for 'wedding photographer bolton' and a couple of other variations.
2 - Set up a Facebook page - early days
3 - Some wording and content updates - mainly to help with SEO
4 - New logo - business cards, flyers etc will match
5 - More products available to buy online - canvasses etc.
6 - More frequent blog

Any thoughts on how I can improve this further would be greatly appreciated.

The front page is a bit hectic with text all over the place and not very ordered.

The font is dated and not the easiest to read.

But other than that, it's not bad, although the gallery page could look a bit tidier.

Having your site linked linked to from other sites will boost your Google rating, so look for listing sites etc.

For me, your homepage is too long, main image is too large too and doesn't fit on my screen so I have to scroll down just to get the whole photograph in. You have about/gallery/contact pages so it doesn't all need to be on your homepage too. I also think your border is a bit heavy - you have quite a delicate line in your logo header so the border just looks a bit clunky - I think a more delicate line will fit in with your site image more.

Other than that, I like it - it's simple, elegant and direct

I'm using the TP app to read this, so I can't see your signature with a link.

Can you post it?

Yeah sure, its www.cduffyphotography.co.uk

Thanks Iris for taking the time to comment, I have adjusted the border so it's a little more delicate and I agree it looks better. I've tidied up the homepage as well so there is less clutter.

I'm not sure what to do about the large image on the homepage, I think it depends on the browser being used as I can easily get the whole image on my screens (x2 laptops and a desktop). I want it to be accessible for all to see easily but also to have impact.

Rather than create a new threat I thought I'd resurrect this one.

Website development is a never ending task and I've been tweaking it here and there over the last few months. I'd appreciate it if you could take a look over it and give some feedback on how it can be further improved.

Thanks

Hi Carl. First time I've looked at your site. My thoughts:
1. Resize image so that it fits on monitor screen without dropping off (scroll bar) e.g. on my laptop.
2. Too much text on home page.
3. DONT centre your text on the page, ugh.
4. Not over keen on the white on black to read a lot of text.
5. Drop down links are too far away from the nav.
6. Re-design your gallery page so that the initial thumbnails are more visible without scrolling down.
7. Why are you using tables inside divs???

Thanks for the feedback Photodiva, sorry its take a while to reply.
I have been able to address a couple of the issues:
1 - resized, should now fit on page (had to move the menu to the side)
2 - Yep there is a fair bit of text but I hope/wish this is improving my SEO with keywords and links.
3 - sorted, left aligned (never had this feedback before would be interested in others thoughts on this)
4 - Thanks, personal preferance I think but I like it.
5 - Should be better now menu is down the left.
6 - Agree, still working on this one.
7 - Do not know what you mean, could you (or anyone else) elaborate as it went right over my head.

I would appreciate any other opinions on the site if any of you could spare a few minutes....

Hi. Looks much better to my eyes. Just left-align other pages, e.g.
http://www.cduffyphotography.co.uk/wedding-prices
And avoid using 'click here' as the link. It looks amateurish and is considered poor practice.
What software did you use to create your website?

Thanks again Photodiva....what did you mean by point 7 above?

Suggested amendments made. Website was put together using Photium. I'm in the process of adding a Zenfolio site as the client area, just linked it today which will host galleries (unlimited storage as opposed to Photium) and the blog. Feel free to take a look: http://cduffyphotography.zenfolio.com/

Hi. If you can read the underlying html code you can see what I mean, but if that's a bit of a mystery to you, never mind. Its obvious that Photium build their pages like that.
