Been looking everywhere for the answer to this.

Is there an easy way to close/exit the browser on a Galaxy S without turning the phone off.

At the moment I open multiple pages but I then have to use the back button to get back to where I started and then to the 'desktop'.

Especially infuriating when showing someone my photos on Flickr and then when I try to go back I have to wait for every image to reload before I can get to the previous page. I end up shutting the phone down.

You could open photos in a new window (press and hold on the link and an option list will pop up).

To get to the 'desktop' just press the home key / big button at the bottom.

To exit programmes, press and hold the home key, then click on the 'task manager' button that pops up.

EDIT, that's on an S2, I'm just assuming it's similar.

No, none of those work. Tried them all :(

Press the home and hold does the same as just pressing it. You go back a single page.

Pressing and holding the link gives you sharing options.

I don't have a Galaxy S, just a Galaxy Note, but is it possible to set a bookmark for your desired starting point, such as Google, for example, and rather than escaping backwards for screen after screen simply click the bookmark to go to the start once more. Set another bookmark for Flickr, or whatever else you like.

On the Note the bookmarks are accessed by pressing and holding the "back" key, which then takes you to your history list (which might also be an option you could use for fast tracking to the beginning) and on the next tab along my saved bookmarks are displayed.

Another option, which might work, or might land you right back where you left off, is to use a task manager to kill the browser without needing a complete reboot.

Simplest solution is to use Dolphin HD as your browser. It's quicker and renders better than the stock browser, gives you tabbed browsing by default and has an exit browser button on the menu!
