As I know nothing about them I thought I'd ask here.

I want it mainly for Skype and maybe YouTube video's and would like something decent but not expensive.

I've been looking at reviews etc and am thinking of buying this one....please have look at the spec's and tell me if it's ok.

I can actually get it for £30 which is more than I wanted to pay when I set off looking for one and reading reviews.

TBH any webcam by either Logitech or Creative won't let you down. Both are very good makes. :)

agreed, tbqfh i've rarely come across a completly crap webcam, i've got one from 1990s that still works granted it cost £130 back then :'(

Cheaper ones are all well and good but megapixles and resolution are worth taking in to consideration as they can really effect the picture quality.

nah it's fine, anything above 320x240 is fine...most come in anywhere between 640x480 and upwards...which for the poxy little window that most webcam apps use is plenty

granted if you're using fullscreen apps then perhaps look a little higher but again it'll get compressed most of the time so it's not big issue

Webcams are much better now than a few years back, but some are still supperior to others, get something like a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000
if you can afford it, I have this cam and it's always clear and sharp.

If youre on a budget, the Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 is cheap and gets good reviews on Amazon.
Although I have to say I've no experience of the actual cam myself, you could try it and if it's no good send it back,
Amazon are really good with returns in my experience so it's worth the punt!

Just had a look on 'Youtube' and there seems to be endless webcam tests inc the C500.

Thank's...............

Personally, anything over 1mp will be fine, all depends on how much detail you want for youtube. I've got a Lifecam HD cinema, and only regret is the lifecam application always needs to download from the internet during installation, it wont let you save the download for future use. My other choice would be the logitech quickcam pro 9000.

Logitech is pretty good and affordable. Has a built in speaker and doesnt require extra accessories..go for it..

I have the one built into my lappy, an old skool logitech in a drawer in case I want one on my desktop, or my 5dII. Guess what I use for quality (ie never bother using lol)
