Web site/page help

As I've got some free time to myself I thought I'd have a go at creating myself a web site/page.

I'm a total numpty in this area so as much help tips what to do and what not do will be must gratefully accepted.

Not really sure where to start.

Hi davey, you could try here:http://www.openwebdesign.org/browse.php and use a template and change it to your own preferences, good starting point.

You need to decide what you want to do with it first, then design your layout (I did this on paper for mine), then decide if you want to use css etc....

Look here for some advice and lessons on how to do things.

There are some great books on learning web design. But Matt raises a good point, know what you want it to look like first
