I have recently redone my website http://www.villabegur.com

Some people are getting an error when they try to access it. At work this morning I got a pop up saying "Internet explorer cannot open the site http://www.villabegur.com", but when I closed the pop up and reloaded, it worked.

Has anybody got any ideas why this may have happened.

Thanks!

Pete

Working fine for me too. Do we get a booking discount for checking? :D

I would always give a tp friend a discount!

[blatant advert starts]

In fact there are two weeks free in mid September 15% off to a TP friend. I think October is fairly free too, the weather can be fantastic in October and it is a wonderful area to explore and photograph...

Cheers for the discount. It looks a lovely place but i'd rattle around in it... Whats the locality like for togging? Could be an idea for a few TP folks to rent it together and have a week of photography there!

Works fine.. also I like your website.. nice and simple but full of the kind of content people want. And mostly I like the way you can work through it without getting lost in a maze of pages.

Works fine for me here too Pete. Having passed through your area before I would happily second your opinion of it as being lovely... many parts of Spain are ;)

Cheers,

Neil

hmm i got an operation aborted when loading the page. but then when i pressed ok to the error mesaage the page then loaded. will look into detail of site now

once its loaded a few times it seems fine, i think its something to do with active x component. I think you will find users with upto date service packs should be fine to view the site.

I have just had the pop up error again - does anybody have any idea why it happens?

It is something like "internet explorer can not open the site" when you click ok and refresh it opens fine. :thinking:

i just got the error

internet explorer cannot open internet site http://www.villabegur.com/. operation aborted.

whats interesting is the url, with /. that dont look right...

how have you designed the site, what software? what hosting company are you using?

when im going through your site im getting errors, and all the url's are ending with a full stop.

It might be worth validating your site.. pick out any errors such as dupe tags and the like.

I have tried validating it and I will work through the 70 errors! I must admit, I don't understand much of what it says at the moment. :bang:

I use Dreamweaver mainly with Lightroom slideshows for some of the pages.

I don't know if it helps but this is the error

Outlook.jpg

I have no idea why sometimes the urls end in a full stop.

I use www.powweb.com as a host.

:thinking:

<td width="483" height="66" rowspan="2" valign="middle"><table width="408" height="275" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">

<tr>
<td width="408" height="275" align="left" valign="top" class="style1"><a href="villaoutside/images/PICT0021-01_jpg.jpg" name="3" id="3"></a>
<script type="text/javascript">
//new fadeshow(IMAGES_ARRAY_NAME, slideshow_width, slideshow_height, borderwidth, delay, pause (0=no, 1=yes), optionalRandomOrder)
new fadeshow(fadeimages, 408, 275, 0, 3000, 1)

</script></td>
</tr>
</table>

Seems to be because you have a script called within another tag (inside the table)..

Thank you very much for taking the time to look Leon, it is much appreciated. The script is a simple slideshow script I found. I ran it in the table because that is where I wanted the slide show images. Is there a better way of doing it?

I apologise if I sound thick!

I'm no expert on this so don't expect a fix from me, i'm just used to solving these sorts of problems as I run into them so all I can really offer is to give you a helping hand :D

But what I think is happening is that it is trying to run the script before the body is loaded (only half parsed) and that is generating the error.. (The . at the end of the URL is insignificant)

I think what has to be done is that the script is set to wait until the page has finished loading before executing.

This is a bit frustrating, I loaded the page at work today using ie6 and got the same error

Outlook.jpg

Now the page half loads before the error appears, and if I click ok I can reload it.

googling it suggests the error is quite common but it would be nice to have a solution.

From what I can make out it is down to the fact that the script that I use for the slideshow tries to run before the page is loaded. I downloaded the script and have no idea how it works. Is there a way to wait a bit before it runs?

Here is the script in the Head

And here is where the script is called

<script type="text/javascript">

Perhaps this bit is still an issue? It's maybe not just within a table, perhaps being inside a div or paragraph tag is causing it?

<div id="lhstext">
<p>
<script type="text/javascript">
//new fadeshow(IMAGES_ARRAY_NAME, slideshow_width, slideshow_height, borderwidth, delay, pause (0=no, 1=yes), optionalRandomOrder)

</script>
</p>

<p><span class=" style2 style1">Float over slideshow to pause.</span> </p>
