web links not working

When clicking on a page link from any web sites, I just get a blank page.
I am using internet explorer 11.

Any ideas please..

Try: Control panel/Default programs/Set your default programs/Internet explorer, then click on "choose defaults for this program" and make sure the relevant items are checked.

Pete Thanks for the details, followed instrutions and have everything checked and saved, but still no joy, clicking on certain web links from web sites I just get a "Blank" page.
