Hi guys

Not sure if I am posting this in the correct section.

But can somebody recommend decent web designers in the london area?

Thanks in advance
Kam

If you like the look of my sites, I can put you in touch with the guy who did them.
He also does work for some major companies such as the NHS, the Catholic church, Honda etc.
But don't be put off by that, he has morals, and charges a very fair and competitive price.
My portfolio site can be found here, and my studio site can be found here

I could do, but I'd have to root through my receipts.
Both were different amounts, as both required a different approach and amount of time.
All his sites include content management, which means once built, you have full control over uploading images, adding text or pages etc. You don't need to go back to him and pay extra just to have something changed.
He's a big believer in ensuring you get everything you require when he builds you a site. His pet hate are the web developers who then hold their clients to ransom regarding updates and changes.

Fair do's

Ballpark was £1200, bear in mind these were scratch built and included booking systems on the studio site etc.
I can remember thinking it seemed about fair at the time, and looking back now, I feel I've saved a vast amount in "amendment" fees that a lot of my clients have to pay when they have their images uploaded or their text changed. Add another page? pah! that has cost one of my clients £150 just for an additional page, and then she had to pay extra for the images to go on, plus the text.

Nope, I think I've got a cracking deal, and I also switched my sites to his servers for the hosting. A lot of my clients have now switched to him.
He tends to only take new clients on personal recommendation, to cut out the time wasters. As you can imagine, he gets quite a few :bonk:

Forgot to add the fact that all his sites have extremely good SEO provison built in naturally.
I don't have any other third party SEO work done on either site, and yet both sites rank very high (page 1) for the terms I told him I would want.
This alone has saved me probably the same cost as the site on an annual basis, if not more

I build websites for a living, this is also my first post here, so I hope it's useful :)

I build websites using a content management system, if you are going to get a website built for you make sure that they provide you with one, too. It will likely cost you a bit more, but the initial outlay of cash will be worth it in the end as it will save you from having to pay to have your site updated by the company who made it.

Secondly, do not be conned by the great SEO swindle... no one can guarantee you any position in organic search results (unpaid for search results), if they do, and they are not getting to to bid for keywords using Google's Adword advertising system then they're talking rubbish.

A good content management system, like Wordpress, ensures that the code generated by you when you use its Word-like page editor is clean and semantically accurate when it's sent to the page. It also generates nice URLs: instead of things like mysite.com/gallery?id=999&page=78&img=32 it will use URLs like mysite.com/gallery/flowers/.

I put together a little site for myself from scratch, with a Geocoding map for images of my area in about 8 hours using Wordpress as a content management system (http://caithnesian.co.uk). The images are all upload able from a password protected admin area, the pages, navigation etc are also editable from the same admin area.

If you need anymore advice, please let me know.

I don't think their front page banner is doing them any favours. :bonk:

:agree:

Hi Guys

Well I have a quote for £1500.00 with content managed website as well as with a client log in area where clients can view their images and a basic seo package. Most companies are stating the client log in area is where the cost increases

Is this a good deal?

Sounds about right.

Do you want a second quote from my guy?

Great that be helpful.

This is the rough brief I have given to my guy.

The tabs I need are:

Home
Why us
Gallery
Contact us
Client Log in

When you click on the gallery i want the galleries to be like this:

http://www.flashmint.com/template-demo-3421.html

within the gallery there will sub sections for:
Brides
Grooms
lifestyle
Ceremonies
misc

I need a website with CMS so that i can manage the content and also need a client log in area where clients can log in and view their images. They will not be purchasing anything on the website. just simply viewing.

I need the twitter and facebook logos linking to my account

I will also need audio on the website as well and i will provide the audio file.

Flash and Audio? I would really reconsider this.

Ipads can't play flash and search engines can't index the content.

I think there are much more functional and more attractive options available within the same budget.

If you do want my guy to quote, you will need to PM me your contact details, and I'll get him to contact you direct so you can state your requirements and talk it through.
