Yes
Yet again another 24hrs rain in Edinburgh and today I was hoping to get out and about my brother in law he was going to let me have a play about with his cannon on high street on festival people just to let me get feel of it, as im starting to get the bug a bit :) I blame him and gary :) ,lets hope rain eases off this afternoon. :)

Its not a great few weeks for getting out and about, although you could use a plastic bag to keep the camera and lens dry so you can get out and give it a go while the festival is on.

The Optech rainsleeves (about a fiver for two) come highly recommended. Bit of a faff to fit though

The weather's fine in Edinburgh, I was out in the rain yesterday with my 40D and no protection and all is fine ;)

might head up shortly too Gary, only got the 17-40 and 50mm with me though :(

must bring more gear tomorrow, it will probably pee down with rain though :D I used the 100-400 on sunday past, the weather was crap though so not many great shots. Must get an f2.8 zoom thingy. Jessops or a walk up the royal mile, hmmmm..

must resist, trying to save pennies for new car ;) I have been having sleepless nights thinking about the 70-200 f2.8 though.

What to do, what to do

I too need some weather protection, don't fancy a guff D3.

Er... Seriously, did you even read anything on the D3 before you bought it? :p Its the top end Nikon camera and as such is weather sealed. I mean if I can go out in any condition with my non weather sealed 30D you bet your ass you can stand outside in a thunderstorm and take photos with your D3. I've been through snow and rain in Edinburgh without issue.

I was outside in the pouring rain on my hands n knees for about an hour with that last photo. 10D + 70-200, 30D + 24-70. The gear was too cold to hold and totally soaked. Still works fine. Stop being babys. Read up on your cameras and get the funk out there taking photos.

^^^ Madman, with great photos :D

Yup but it gets the photos. Your D3 will easily be able to handle anything so do it.

Love the fourth pic down!

But salt water and cameras? Isn't that a disaster waiting to happen?

Still waiting.

10mm ftw. I knew it would happen so I waited. Of course I got wet and so did my gear. Its all still here though.

New Lens versus New Car.

New Lens FTW :)

0 to F2.8 in less than a second, awesome :D

You convinced me, I got the 2.8  I ended up spending an hour in Jessops though, man, can they talk. Will have to try it out up the royal mile tomorrow ;)

Cheers ;) It's a heavy b****r, can't wait to get out and try it though.

"Boss, I'm not feeling well, any chance of the afternoon off?" :gag:

Er... Seriously, did you even read anything on the D3 before you bought it? :p

Just that it was good, and erm, had cool ISO. And didn't work with some lenses. But in reality, no, nothing. Have still to open the manual too.

I enjoy finding my own way around it, and whilst I will be making loads of mistakes along the way, I am enjoying trying to get a feel for it.

In all honestly though, the ranting and raving about the D3 here was enough to sell it.

Gary.
