I hope thats not heading northerly - I don't want it here!

We had bright sunshine and blue skies all morning, been over my Dad's house done some painting, now I'm home the wind is picking up and the sky is grey and it's getting darker.
No bike ride for me then.

:( not good for you then. Its a mix of sunshine wind then rain here, sunny at the moment but I can guarantee as soon as I go out it will chuck it down!

Just rain here...and I so wanted to try out the new BamaChips tunes for the car...

wierd its now very bright and nearly all melted lol Great British weather at its best

Bright sunshine but windy here.

We now have some lovely warm sunshine ..wheres IanC when we need him:lol:

Blowing a gale in Argyll + Bute - occasional snow too

Hubby is currently walking up The Cobbler :cuckoo:

It's now pouring with rain. May have just had a rumble of thunder too, or it could just have been the wind.

We now have a lovely spring afternoon after our 20mins of heavy white stuff and its warm too the roads n pavements are now dry:thinking:

Started bright & sunny, torrential rain by lunch time, cleared up to sunny again by 3.00 and now howling gales and my bloody bins are blowing round the garden :annoyed:

Had to drive from Elgin down through Speyside and Laggan to Fort William today, it was scary! Laggan especially was bad. the snow was very heavy and that wet clingy type I had to stop to wipe it off because the wipers couldn't handle it. Snow gates closed on the A9 too.

Hi, back again.

I've still got me passion for meteorology but we're now entering this time of the year where "significant and prolonged" nationwide cold spells are rare and what we've had today was the result of a pool of unstable cold air. Hardly worth producing threads for it. :D
What had happened today was where heavy showers inside that pool of cold air brought down pockets of colder air from aloft and enabled to bring down snow to low levels. It's usually very localised and catches people out by surprise when it does happen.

Here's the weather for this week in a nutshell:

TOMORROW (Monday): Cold start with local frost patches in morning. Good sunny spells in east of the UK, showers to the west, some may be wintry in flavour. Generally rather cool.

TUESDAY: A good deal of cloud with outbreaks of drizzle and light rain spreading east to all parts. Hill fog also likely. Becoming milder. Perhaps becoming clearer by night time.

WEDNESDAY: Bright start to the east of the UK, cloudy to the west with outbreaks of drizzle and light rain. Mild after a somewhat chilly start.

THURSDAY: Rain sweeping southwards across the UK, cooler and showery conditions following on behind. Mild at first, turning colder through the day.

FRIDAY: Becoming more settled as showers die away.

THE WEEKEND: Looks like being quite settled, and possibly becoming warmer with the first 15 C being reported somewhere around the country.

So there you have it. :)

I happened across a thread you'd posted on earlier and thought "Michael Fish, now what reason have Admin got to give you that title".

Thanks for inadvertently answering me :D
