Wearing spectacles and photography

I think it is important to have your eyes tested regularly, (every two years in my case). I'm glad I do, last time I went I was told I had the onset of Cataracts.

I use extended wear contacts. You leave them in 24 hours a day for 30 days then bin them :)

have to get mine done every 6 months.. family history of eye problems , cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma . and now im well into my 40's its essential i have the eye pressure test regularly to keep a close check on things .

How do you get on with those? Any dry eye problems? And how does the cost compare with daily lenses? I have been thinking about trying them, or the weekly versions.

Steve.

Steve.

I've been using them for 15 years without a problem, only having to fiddle with your eyes once a month & being able to see when you wake up - much better than daily or weekly :)

I use purevision bausch and lomb, it works out at £50 for six months supply.

An old thread that's been resurrected but I'll reply.

Been wearing glasses since teens. Eyesight's bad enough that I can't use the dioptre adjustment. I've just worn glasses and taken photos. The problem is that even if I could get appropriate dioptre, I would then have to take my glasses on/off to have a look around. Far easier to keep glasses on.

But over the past year or so, I've been wearing contact lenses. Just daily disposable ones and I don't wear them every day. But I can wear them for 14 hours without issues. Makes life easier and something I'd wish I'd done earlier.

Recently had a change in prescription in both eyes so new contact lenses. Means I need to use reading glasses to compute now (if I'm wearing the contacts). Not adjusted the cameras' dioptres yet but that's easy enough to do. Will be sorting out some bifocals when we're back from holiday.

I wear glasses all the time and it is really frustrating when it comes to using the viewfinder, as it can be tricky to see the whole frame (and the bits of info surrounding it). Unfortunately the diopter adjustment doesn't do enough to negate my need for glasses.

I had been contemplating contact lenses but the idea of poking around in my eye makes me a bit squeamish. However reading this thread has given me some encouragement so I might now give it a go!

Had a look at my dioptre on my camera body after I picked my new glasses up this morning. I've set it all the way to one side, moved it back a little and it was more in focus. Strange.

I had this problem. I took off the eyepiece and now I can see the whole frame fine. Give it a try!
