According to the news, we now know the identity of Jack the Ripper! Just waiting to find out who it was...

Jack the Ripper was a 23-year-old Polish immigrant called Aaron Kosminski, according to Russell Edwards, who describes himself as an armchair detective. Testing DNA after all these years, just how likely is this?

Slightly strange that the only evidence is based on a shawl 'found' 126 years later...

duke of Clarence with an almighty cover up was favourite

how can he be sure who's dna he is comparing the sample with - given how long ago it was - more likely a 'buy my book' stunt

Remember seeing the 1988 TV series with Michael Caine and Lewis Collins, can't even remember how it ended now. But never mind, we know who did it now

Buy my book, certainly looks like it ..

Right......and of course it's without doubt.

I remember "The final solution" by Stephen Knight who made a convincing case that the Royal Family, the Duke of Clarence and the Freemasons were behind it all, I think the 2002 film 'From Hell' presumed the same. I've read Patricia Cornwell's theories about Walter Sickert, Tumbelty, Maybrick was another and so it rumbles on.

It is fascinating and whenever I read about JtR I'm transported back to a vivid, foggy 1888 Victorian London.

The real answer lies in quantum physics.
It could be this, or it could be that, or it could be either but it cannot be neither.
But, like Schodinger's cat, which could have been either if it had actually existed, it would now be dead if it had in fact been true - so does it really matter?

The only person who knows for sure, is Jack the Ripper, but he's long gone. Time to get back to worrying about modern day events

Just thinking that sounds like a good film to watch, but just found out it's American !!

Ah yes but how current are we talking about, within the last couple of years or so ?

Having read quite a bit about the subject myself, my first objection to Kosminski might be a number of victims seemed to 'trust' their killer on meeting him. This may well apply to K of course, but it may well point more towards a character like Sickert, a seemingly respectable 'gentleman'.

K's name has appeared in the past in connection with the case, he could have given the shawl to the victim (Eddowes?) but not killed them.

I know what you mean but it's better than it looks and it's not actually too bad. And Heather Graham's in it ;)

Does not mean a great deal to me, as I don't watch too many American films that's the missus department. But I just did an image search for her, and up popped a photo of a blonde woman in a tight blue top, and I now see what you mean ;)
