Sod that! /\

That's not too far off how they've cut a new road track between 2 of our favourite beaches in South Crete. The coast route is about 30 minutes along 10 miles of intermittently metalled road (graded on the rest but well worn!) and the other way is 45 minutes for about 30 miles. Bottled it a couple of years ago since I wasn't sure the road went all the way but checked on Google Earth before this year's trip and saw that it did get there.

You can get a whole trolley for £1 :D

Indeed.

I often see an abandoned trolley or two, so wonder if this will increase the amount that people walk off with.

But who uses 20 bags per shop? Plus, a bag can be reused at home as a bin liner, unlike a trolley.

Only makes sense to take the trolley if you intend to take it back and reuse it.

Exactly
I guess also it'd be worth more than £1 in scrap value, its a win win

But surely bags are easier to carry.
Trolleys have wheels and therefore don't need carrying

don't complicate matters :p

Or you could, you know, re-use the bag next time you shop.

I realise it's a rather revolutionary idea. ....

When they introduced the 5p charge in Scotland supermarkets had to stop folk taking baskets out to the car because so many were going missing.
