That's what I thought plus bank transfer only for payment. Found them via Google Adwords.

Could well be legitimate and just a start up but personally wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

The Terms and Conditions claim that 'We Love Canon' is a UK Registered Company. in fact no such Company is registered with that name at Companies House. This reminds me of a Website that was called 'Canon World', that was a supposed to be operating from Trading Estate Premises in London, those premises were advertised as vacant with an Estate Agent at that time, they offered impossible prices and also a 10% further discount for signing up to a newsletter and funny old thing, they only accepted bank transfers. Canon World promptly disappeared with who knows who much in Bank Transfers.

Looks dodgy beyond belief. Is there a quicker way of reporting this to the authorities than the 20 minutes to fill in an Action Fraud questionnaire?

Well I've used them and got some... oh, no... that would be a lie ;)

I imagine the unsuspecting, non TP, public will be easily duped by this. People have become far more familiar and trusting of websites that claim UK addresses

The domain is registered by 'Identity Protect Limited'. Registered on 10 Sept - and only registered for one year. IPL is a privacy protection service. No legitimate business would use one.
Stay away - fay away!

well - hopefully anyone thinking of buying from them will put "WeLoveCanon" into google and get the following results... ;)

time to a shill poster telling us how great they are 10,9,8,7...

I'm sure that TP Members will be devastated to know that the welovecanon website has gone down. I am just waiting to see what pops up next, perhaps it's time for a Nikon Site!

I hope this thread (and it's high listing on Google) prevented too many people losing their money.

Trust Pilot has it right: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/welovecanon.co.uk

Interestingly on that Trust Pilot page - they give it an overall rating of 6.1 based on a single 1` star review!
I've looked into this and someone complained about it on Trustpilot's own review. Here was their reply;

Dear DIY Maniac,

Thank you for your great review and valuable feedback regarding Trustpilot product.

As I’m not in a position to discuss our scoring algorithm in-depth, I can only mention that in general TrustScore gives a mathematically sound approximation of the probability of having a satisfying experience when shopping with a given company. To achieve this a simple average isn’t enough, instead we calculate the TrustScore using Bayesian Average principles. Information on the Bayesian Average: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayesian_average.

I have passed on your suggestions with regards to how we can improve our scoring and search mechanisms to our Trustpilot Product Team who is responsible for the consumer site and is working hard on the next round of enhancements.

You are very welcome to provide specific product feedback via support@trustpilot.com .

Kind Regards

So basically they use a secret algorithm based on a field of mathematics most people won't understand in order to obfuscate the results. Conveniently, this leads to poor vendors getting much higher ratings that an unweighted numerical mean would calculate.

A cynic would suggest they are fudging the scores to keep vendors happy. ;)

Ah, found some more hidden in the bowels of Trust Pilot...
https://support.trustpilot.com/hc/en-us/articles/201748946-TrustScore-Explained-

Basically, the averages are weighted by age (a good thing, I think), but businesses start with a score of 7! no, not 5, 7. Automatic weighting in favour of the vendor.

So, it takes quite a few reviews before the average actually gets close to the reviews that people have left.

Glad i used bold AND red letter in my post now, seems all the more worth while :D
