Has anyone ever used these comedians and been happy with the result?
Just out of curiosity, ( OK call it boredom) I bunged in my works vehicle, and the replacement value ( private sale pretty much like for like ) on auto trader is a little over 9K
We buy any car haha .. valued it at 3K
Is anyone really daft enough to sell if that is the profit margin ?

A mate sold his bikes through webuyan.ybike (after a nasty smash that very nearly killed him) because he wanted shot as fast as possible. No dealers wanted to just buy the things outright and he didn't want the hassle of selling them himself since he was on crutches or bedbound for about 18 months.

i sold my citroen c3 as it had a knackered turbo :-)

A neighbour got a quote from webuyanycar for his low miles 55 plate porsche boxster of £4.5k.
He got more than twice that sum via private sale.
Their claim to giving you a better option than P.X.ing strikes me as utter bull.

That was my thoughts too, hence the reason for checking it out.

As Neil said above, and I hadn't thought of it that way, those that are "strapped for cash" may well be taken advantage of :(

They'll spam you for weeks/months now too. I got a stupidly low quote about 3 years ago for a car I wanted to sell and they were phoning emailing for ages afterwards.

Not as fast as they could get the cash from wbac.con...

We sold our minibus to them, they offered £800 more than any dealer on a trade in against a new one, if they had bothered to look harder it was very rotten underneath for an 07 plate :)

My sister and her partner sold 2 cars to them and got just under auto trader value. She was happy as she just handed the cars over and got the cash no problem. She was emigrating so didn't want the hassle of having people coming to view and haggle. This was about 7 years ago.

I got a price off them just to see what they'd offer before trading in @ a dealer. They offered 12k & I got 13k at the dealer. (could probably have got more privately, but couldn't be without transport)

I also heard that they charge an admin fee (£250?) which they knock off what they previously offered you.

Not we buy any car but I did sell my Mercedes GL to sell car co uk. Got a better price than Mercedes and negotiated about 15% up from the first offer. I was very happy with the service.

Not used them but had planned to.. then I couldn't get the damm thing fixed week enough to run so I sold out to sellyourproblemcar.com instead!

WBAC appeals to the same people that trade in rather than private sale.. they know the car is more ****ed than meets the eye with a casual inspection.

The prices they offer seems to depend on the make/model of vehicle; whether they can shift them themselves easily.

i sold a car for more scap than was offered by them :ROFLMAO:

We did that a couple of years ago with our Mondeo (it had loads of things wrong with it). WBAC offered £80 for it, so I phoned a local scrappy, who came around and gave me £150.

Friend got a quote from them, seemed good so they decided to accept, were asked to drive to the nearest depot, 100 miles away !!!
Only having one car they asked if I would go to bring them back.
On arrical and inspection, the amount was drastically reduced, so a wasted journey for us both, car came home and went on private sale

Their offers do seem rather erratic in that case, some are "lucky" some not so.

I've put in a couple or so others, and offers were well below half private buying prices.

But they'll give you cash to make buying you next car easier as you can "haggle" a deal. Most main dealers won't even entertain cash payments now they much prefer finance and GAP insurance.

That's all very well if its something like trade in price, but when its a few K down its a pointless exercise.

They offered me £35 for a Peugeot 106 on an 02 plate... I still have the car and they still email me a year later

I read on another forum that they'll offer you a reasonable price in advance but find "faults" with the car when you get to their depot. The fault in this case was "the boot has obviously been used for carrying things".

They offered me the wonderful amount of £85 for my old Peugeot 406 diesel a few years ago. Sold it privately two days later for £1200. I'm strangely not too sorry I didn't take their offer!

But isn't that realistically what everyone does? Seller forget about those issues and price it as new for retail prices. Buyers want the vehicle as new for she'd like condition prices.

I've only once paid sticker price on a car ever, always know it down.

When I sold my Mercedes GL via sellcar I got a low initial offer but was able to negotiate them up. When they came to my home to collect it there was an appraissor there; had a great 15 minute test drive (don't think they ever drove a car this big it was hilarious to witness the fright on her face, which I didn't get because the previous car she done was an Lamborghini. ). Anyway after that they hit me with £2K less because there was a tiny little scuff on the front left 21" alloy and a single stone chip on the bonnet. Hmm yes hello it had done 43K miles and is three years old. I told them where to stick it and that the deal is off. In the end they offered £100 less which I accepted. No point going through that again. And besides it was still £3K more than what Mercedes offered :p

Seriously I would do it again with a nice valuable not too old vehicle. Private buyers are much more of a pain as they want the blanket of protection of warranties etc. I much prefer to do a trade sale and they got it minus auction fees and a really good vehicle.

I've always chucked my broken cars (generally repair cost not economical) on eBay with reserves. Good photos and loads of detail and they've always gone for much more than expected (even after fees) .
