Hi guys,

I have a 2TB WD mycloud for storing all my photos on, so as not to clog up my laptop. I find it useful to for accessing photos on other devices all in one place :)

The only annoying thing is I always save my photos in RAW ready for editing but when I open the WD programme I can't see individual photo thumbnails and so have to transfer all photos onto my laptop to see them, I can double click to open them in photoshop but this is annoying if I am looking for a particular photo. I have read online and no one else seems to have trouble seeing thumbnails of RAW files :s does anyone know why I can't see them?

Is there also a way to open the files directly into light room rather than photoshop? (I have had windows in the past but now on Mac and can't seem to find out how to select a programme as a default for certain file types?

Lastly I have read that you can share files on the mycloud for others to see and was wondering how/if its possible to set up so if I take photos for people I can give them a link/password for them just to view a specific folder with their photos in, but not all photos on the drive?

I know its quite a few questions in there but would be really grateful if someone could help.

Many thanks

To set default app select a file and choose get info, it is one of the options. No idea what WD programme is but if it came with the disk I would not use it but rely on OS X instead.
For iCloud consult Apple support, which is pretty good, eg: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202786

Thanks :) sorted out so Lightroom opens raw files by default :) wd =western digital type nas. Not sure if it's a true nas but it sits in my lounge and I can access it from anywhere. From further reading you don't seem to be able to view raw files via the app but I've found that if I click import in Lightroom then go to the wdmycloud it lets me see thumbnails for all my raw files :) not quite perfect but it's certainly enough for me :)

Just need to read up on how to set up so that people can view only certain files on the drive remotely

Danny
