WCMUT....what cheered me up today

Yup! Going to take some getting to grips with many of its functions but got the basics going. Best thing (so far!) is no more Jeremy "Daily Mail Radio" Vine - Radio6 Music instead!

Was your old car stuck on a radio station or something? lol

No, it just didn't have DAB radio and R2 was the best option. Usually!

WCMUT was me finally getting around to replacing the ball valve cone and rubber in the roof tank. It's been "singing" to us for a couple of months (if not longer!!!) so I took the opportunity of a spare 1/2 hour with Mrs Nod's assistance to do the (very easy - once the rather tattered jacket had been removed) job.

WCMUT is Amazon's return system. Due to someone's total incompetence, I ordered a USB-C to USB-C, Micro and Lightning lead instead of a USB-A to C, Micro and Lightning. A minute of box ticking and the wrong one will be dropped off with no box or label to the drop off point in town tomorrow. Right one is coming on Monday.

No sign of Diabetic Retinopathy. They hinted at that result at the appointment but now got it in writing!

Premium Bonds... Won nothing in August and September but just got a notification email today and found I'd won £125 :D

Another one... Moo Deng is a Thai pigmy hippo who's become world famous. Check her out on social media or just google. Mrs WW is in Thailand and she's off to the zoo next week and will hopefully pick up some Moo Deng clothing. She wants some trousers and me and Mrs WW's mam want a shirt :D

Forgot this. Last Sunday my wife ordered what is called a mother/child lamp ie a tall one with a small one halfway down the stand that is flexible. It was an online order to Universal Lighting in Birkenhead. On Monday morning she got a phone call from them thanking her for the order and informing her that it would be delivered by FedEx on Wednesday. It was. Never had a retailer call to say thanks for the order. Amazing.

WCMUT was a chilly but bright outing on the bike this morning. I was on the road by 07:45 and up on the Moor by 08:30 or so. Too early for the caff in Princetown, so I kept going. Got home 30 seconds before Mrs Nod did after her 1 to 1 class.

I've put this here because it me laugh.

This morning, we went to the surgery for a Covid vaccination. I knew they were also doing the 'flu vaccination but the 'little voice' inside suggested I don't have both together and my wife agreed so she's us booked us in at Boots chemist for the 'flu vaccination in week's time. Maybe it was ok but I thought, let my body deal with one at a time. I was called from the queue and the nurse said, 'Covid and 'Flu vaccination ? "No, just for Covid, I don't really want both together." "Oh, that's alright you can have one in your left arm and the other in your right arm" :D "But they'll meet in the middle won't they " . " Oh, yes", she said with a straight face. "Then you must book to have the 'flu vaccination another day" I just said, "yes,ok".

I had both today and I am still OK. I recall from previously I had no reaction from the many COVID Vaccinations but did get a short flu like effect for a couple of days after the flu vaccine. My wife also refuses to have the two together.

We had both jabs last week, with one in each arm. Our arms ached a bit for a couple of days afterwards but no side effects otherwise. Having them done at the same time saved an additional appointment at our GP surgery.

My experience exactly.

The pfizer jab tried very hard to kill me. So I'm not going anywhere near that.
I also have a couple of customers who had to take to their bed for a few days after the flu jab, so I'm a bit reluctant to have that.

Got the double on Tuesday. Hoping I have the same reaction to them as is usual for me - nothing apart from a slightly sore arm!

Had both COVID and 'flu jabs in the left arm yesterday at my usual surgery.

Last year when I had just a 'flu jab the organisation was great. In and out is a couple of minutes.
This year is was a bit of a mess. The two jabs were given in two different rooms, so duoble queuing and lots folks in a fairly small area which seemed like a good chance of catching something.

That was our experience yesterday, when we went for our flu jabs. We'll have to wait until next month for our anti-Covid doses, now.

WCMUT was the scoreline in the women's RWC yesterday - 21-12 (OK, it should probably be 12-21 but that doesn't work as well!) against Canada. Not sure Geddy Lee would be so cheered by the score!

I think it's important,Brian. Those who suffer like that are really in the minority. The way I look at it is that whilst I might get covid or the 'flu it won't be anywhere near as bad had I not had the vaccinations. I always have ajoke down at the surgery .I ask what other offers they have.I take them all. Lol.I don't smoke, never have after a few behind the bike shed at school ..tasted awful. I don't drink alcohol..wine burns my stomach (the acid,I assume) and I don't like our beer. Must be 15 years since I hasd any wine or beer . I make Bailey's ice cream..does that count ?..Lol I really liked German beer when I lived there but not ours. I think the ingredients are different. One made with hops, German,.I think ours with wheat or barley. Anyway, the doctor said I'd live to a hundred..Lol.

Decisions of having a vaccine or not must depend on the individual. I have a significantly weakened immune system so any illness (e.g. COVID, Flu etc.) can soon develop into bronchitis and the next stage is Pneumonia then death. On balance it is certainly best for me to have the vaccines. I have had COVID twice so far; the first time it did rapidly develop into bronchitis which required urgent medical treatment. By the time I had COVID the second time I must have had the vaccination several times and COVID was a non event; I would like to keep it that way. I do not smoke nor drink beer but do enjoy red wines (in moderation of course).

My wife has developed a cold since the Covid vaccination. Maybe just a coincidence. My arm has olny just stopped aching. Very low level but I haven't had that with all the others. I',m pleased we're having the 'flu vaccination next week. Our neighbour has just had a vaccine for Covid,'flu and something else..in one go.

I had the flu jab on monday. No adverse reaction whatever, not even bruising.

I could drop dead tomorrow of course. :D

Just an aside on the flu vaccine.
Does anybody know what and why there is a different vaccine if you're over 65?

Here you go, Brian.

From the link .
"This winter, people aged 65 and over are being offered a flu vaccine called Fluad®. This is the best vaccine currently available for people in this age group because it contains an adjuvant that helps the immune system create a stronger response to the vaccine."

Double barrelled jab yesterday, both in the same arm. Other than the expected ache, no reaction. No bruising visible.

Saving an animal from an unusual place.

I was doing some clearing up in the garden today. By an ivy covered fence we have a water butt, identical to this one - https://www.diy.com/departments/ward-210l-water-butt/405866_BQ.prd - I had a look inside as often slugs or snails make theiir way in and I have to fish them out. Today I found a frog swimming around which I picked out and put in the pond.

I know frogs can climb and I assume because the lid was slightly open it had jumped/fallen in. I don't know how long it would have survived if I hadn't found it but it was a surprise though with a good ending.

When we were on holiday in Lampeter, West Wales, last year and I watered the plants for the owners of the bungalow and I got the water from a large water butt. Lying on the surface of the water about 18" down was a damsel fly. It's wings stretched out on the surface and it wasn't moving. I cafully lifted it out on my finger and it stayed there after I walked away from the butt. It was a warm day so I sat at the patio table for about fifteen minutes allowing it to dry out. When it started to move its wings I put it on a large flower leaf in the sun and it stayed there for a while every now and then moving its wings. Then it flew off. I found some mesh in the garden and it was just the right size to fit over the water butt which had no lid. When the owners visited I told them about it and they said they'd leave the mesh there.

Re slugs and snails. I sometimes find them in the green bin which is for garden waste and they slide up the inside to the lid but can't get out. I'll often check to see if any are there and if there are any I take them out with a piece of kitchen roll, 'cos the slugs have that sticky slime that's really difficult to get off the fingers, and put them in a plastic seed pot and go across the road out the front and put them in the long grass under the trees. I've only mentioned it because you have, otherwise I'd never let on... :D If we're out for a walk and I see a snail on the footpath I'll put it onto nearby grass..

I like this tale. An old man..it's always an old, wise man..lol.. picked up a newly-born turtle on the beach of a Pacific island that was heading for the ocean but at risk from ocean birds, and whatever else eats them, because they know about these events. A boy asked him why he did it and that it didn't matter as there were tens of thousands of them and the old man said.."It matters to the one I saved"

I may as well mention the other one I like. A boy had his two hands cupped together and an old man, passing, asked him what he had. "A butterfly"said the boy. The old man said,"Then you must open you hands and if it stays it will be your forever but if flies away it was never yours in the first place"

Mrs WW is in Thailand at the mo and they have a baby pigmy hippo over there called Moo Deng (means something like bouncing pig) who's become an internet sensation and surprisingly this has gone all over the world. This all started when the keeper took some snaps and vids and put them on social media and now they're getting huge numbers of visitors from all over the world and the hippos have a 24/7 livecam.

One thing which is nice is that they're near a bird enclosure and they never stop not even at night. Mrs WW has this on and she finds it very relaxing. The hippo is funny when she had a mad half hour and when she plays with the keeper.

Enjoy the Moo Deng livecam...

Mrs WW is desperate for some Moo Deng clothing but they've sold out at the mo.

I've just come back from 3 weeks out in Thailand and kept on seeing that baby hippo on facebook newsfeeds!!!!

I wear glasses and whilst we were out there one of the screws holding the left lens fractured... found a glasses repair shop and asked if they could repair them..... 24 hours later they were fixed and I could see properly again..... cost 100 baht (about £2.30)!!! I've had it happen before, a few years ago and took those glasses to my optician who said that they couldn't be repaired and I'd have to buy a new frame!!!

WCMUT is the latest instalment of Allen Millyard's Norton Nemesis rebuild on YouTube. I particularly like its rejection of the transplants near the end of the video - you'll have to watch it to see what I mean!

For those unfamiliar with Mr Millyard, he's an engineer who is best known for bike builds, especially grafting extra cylinders onto engines. If you enjoy things like that, check out his YouTube channel for an assortment of his builds.

This is the link to the latest instalment.

The bike made it very clear what it thought of the transplants. Quite right too.

I think you slightly undersell him. His creations are astonishing. Some are in museums around the world and Jay Leno whispers his name in awe.

Not sure I'd want it as a neighbour with its standard pipes!!! (And I use to run an 88" Shovelhead with a similar amount of baffling!!!)

Yes, a little undersold but better that than overpromising. Extremely self effacing in person too - he doesn't seem to realise just how astounding his creations are.

WCMUT ? Cancelling my Home Cover with British Gas. I'm free at last! Now, where's that plumber's number!

Booked a holiday for something to look forward to, during the winter! ;) :)

I'm copying LP's onto CD and some of them I haven't played for years and years. I'm copying Hazel O'Connor's Breaking Glass at the moment and it's wonderful. I know every song as it comes on :D
