WCMUT....what cheered me up today

I managed to book 2 pairs of Theatre tickets for upcoming shows this year... 9 To 5 in February with the gorgeous Claire Sweeney (played Lindsey Corkhill in Brookside) and Bat out of hell, with the music of Meat Loaf and the late Jim Steinman.

WCMUT? more of a chuckle really.

I've got a lot of pigeons around here, both feral and woodies.
I have a semi hidden ground feeder cage for the LBJ's. ( as well as hanging feeders)
Watching the pigeons strut back and forth trying to figure out how to get at the food,
always makes me chuckle because they can't.

Its about time they realised ...
Apart from the one in Dastardly and Muttley, Pigeons aren't too clever man!

Sorry got to ask LBJ's?

Little brown jobs - unidentified small brown birds.

Well, that had to be a record !
Amazon return collected at 10:40 today.
Refund issued @ 12:30 today!

What was even better, it was collected via Hermes, yeah I know, as my thoughts on the local courier are well known.
Today was a chap, different vehicle.
It seems "she" has left...
I wonder if she jumped or was pushed.

I can beat the refund time by a fair margin. Dropped a package off in our local Next store and spotted something I wanted on my way out. As I was paying for the item, my phone vibrated and it was the refund e-mail.

Here's hoping that your Hermes experiences will be good from now on!

Little Brown Jobbies
It goes way back into Falconry lore.
Something is caught that maybe shouldn't have, ( try telling your bird that it can't kill that) it then goes in the game book as an LBJ.

What do Scottish falconers write?
I'm given to understand little brown jobbies refers to something completely different north of the border.

And some area's of the rest of the UK too.

That's why its just referred to an LBJ. Its become a "word" in its own right.
Well you can hardly write f*** I shouldn't have killed that can you? :D

WCMUT.

I've had a restful day with nowhere to go or to be. So, I had a lovely breakfast of home made pancakes whilst listening to a CD mix I made myself and then I watched a TV prog about Chrissy Hynde singing Bob Dylan songs and thought she was excellent. I then did the internet banking and bills and by switching some money should get an extra £40 a year interest as every little helps. Then Mrs WW cut my hair. Later she'll make a pasta dinner and we'll watch the Leicester match, if it's on.

That all might sound a bit boring but it's been a lovely, quiet and problem free day and I/we all need one of those now and again :D

WCMUT? I got an alert on my phone, PIP's going up in April from about £608 a month to about £627.

I know this will lead to mass complaints from the Daily Fail who hate benefit claimants, but they can swivel anyway.

WCMUT was Mrs Nod hearing about a multi vehicle incident on our route to her studio JUST in time for me to alter the route before coming up to the back of the queue it had caused.

I got a message on my GiffGaff app this afternoon, I've raised £147 in Payback points so far for using the community and making loads of calls on my phone.

Sometimes having an obscenely large post count on a forum does pay! :D

Also, I finally received a new set of forms from Luv 2 Meet U, I emailed the lady who runs the Sheffield service last night, and she's emailed me the forms this afternoon, membership form, equal opps form, criminal record checks and all that bobbins, I'll fill it in and send it back by email tomorrow.

What cheers me up EVERY day is listening to the radio announcements of travel holdups and knowing that I no longer need to worry about them! :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Me too, listening to issues on the M25/M3/M4/M40 all around London, or that the Reading line is delayed again on First GWR. Mind you, I got stuck just down the road the other day, total gridlock, farmer was moving his cows

I've spent the last 2 hours playing Xbox, and have managed to get to nearly 1200 points and 2nd on this month's Leaderboard (I only need about another 200 points between now and a week on Monday to get the top spot)

Here's a lesson for everyone when they see a a really good offer on an item. I never put off until tomorrow what can be done today especially re price drops. An offer can disappear overnight.

My wife's friend has been showing her the benefits of Alexa Echo. There was a thread on here about a year ago which I'd started after reading that people with these devices would receive information about, for instance, holiday destinations that couples had been discussing in their home. Then it turned out staff at Apple (I think) had been listening in and joking about conversations so I didnt want one. These units were on offer at £29.99 so I was persuaded to have one. She bought one on Friday for the kitchen so she can hear music whilst preparing meals and it also makes shopping lists. I have to say that I'm impressed with the quality . It's the size of a grapefruit. Black-silver or light grey/white. We have the light grey one. Another one would be useful in the living room for music to save getting up and down to play CDs. My wife said we could think about it. No. Best to get it now at £29.99. So it arrived from Amazon this morning.Currys had sold out instore. The price is the same at both retailers.

Good job we did because at 12 noon today... https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/smart...mazon-echo-4th-gen-charcoal-10215717-pdt.html

We have an echo dot in the kitchen.
Great for listening to the radio and the wife uses it as a timer when cooking/baking.
We also have an echo show and my wife's mum has one too.
My wife can see her mum when they video call and can see she's OK etc as she's 82 years old.

That's marvellous for your wife to be able to 'keep an eye' on her mum. That takes away all anxiety.

I'm getting round to thinking that these innovations are actually really beneficial. I'm definitely not a Luddite but I've heard so many negative stories about this kind of technology that I've been very wary not only for the personal items but the technology now available to governments especially authoritarian ones.

We have an Echo downstairs an 3 dots upstairs. Extremely useful. not just for listening to music/radio but also for the shopping. Ours is linked to our Ocado account so if I'm in the kitchen and I realise we're low on something, I can just say for example, "Alexa, ask Ocado to add milk to this week's order." We have 4 lamps in the dining room, each with smart plugs, so it's just a case of "Alexa, turn the lights on/off."

Just learnt about the shopping list yesterday. My wife went to the supermarket and told me to add anything I remembered after she left because she'll see it appear on her iPhone as she goes round the store..I'll Google what else Alexa can do. I think there are smart light bulbs as an alternative to adapters. We just need two for the living room table lamps.I don't know how it works for ceiling lights that are switched on with a normal wall switch.

I had a lovely afternoon...well until Spurs lost 2-0 to Chelsea...lol... listening to 60's pop. It's great not to have to get up out of the chair, stop the CD, take it out, get another one put it into the carrier, press start, adjust the volume. We have a surround sound system so we will still play favourites, especially classical music, through that system. Anyone with amp knowledge will know about the Audiolab 8000A (60w per channel) . It was such good quality I've had it for 30 years and a good while ago upgraded it. I suppose modern amps better it,though. it, though. Maybe time to look into that.

I was speaking to my sister earlier and she tells me this. Can it be true ? She said...."Alexa, time to go to sleep" Alexa: "Goodnight hope the bed buggies don't bite you" My sister laughed and so did Alexa. She's having me on, surely ?

Typical Alexa slave after a few years:

For some reason my Webcam didn't work last night on the Karaoke site I use, I just tried it and it works! Going to do a Meatloaf song (as you know he sadly left this mortal coil last week :( )

That reminds me of one of my favourite jokes.

A guy goes for an interview and the boss says "Can you perform under pressure?"

The guy replies "No, but I'll give Bohemian Rhapsody a good go."

WCMUT was disposing of an old sofa then carrying on to a favourite lunching café for a fish supper (well, it was hake rather than haddock and it was at lunchtime!)

Since arriving in the UK Mrs WW has done a lot of courses including various English, maths and translation courses. Prompted by one of her course friends she recently applied to a translation agency and they must be desperate as no sooner had she applied they contacted her about an "emergency" job they want her to do remotely. At the moment we have no idea who or what the client is but as she's free on the day she's accepted the job.

The pay for these jobs seems to be quite good and you get your travel expenses or mileage allowance but of course not if you do it on the computer :D

Interestingly all the people on these translation courses are women, I wonder why no men? Anyway, Mrs WW hasn't met any other Thai's on these courses, they're all from the India / Pakistan area, eastern Europe, Africa or middle east. One lady from the Sudan had a similar experience to Mrs WW when she signed up to a different agency and another from India or Pakistan (I forget) has had to turn down a lot of work as she's snowed under. We didn't know if Mrs WW being the only Thai on these courses would mean there's no market or if she'll be snowed under due to having less competition so we'll have to see how it goes. I think I read somewhere that the UK is one of the main destinations for Thai's but quite a few seem to have pretty good English so I just don't know how busy she may be.

I have told here that there's no pressure to work but she was a go getter with a high end job in Thailand and I think she misses some of the work experience. If the translation doesn't go well she may look for some sort of volunteer role. This isn't the first "job" she's been offered as she helped out for a while at a local college and they pester her to go back.

Anyway. I'm proud of her for passing every exam and course since she came here.
:D

WCMUT was me finally getting around to dealing with my tax return.
