WCMUT....what cheered me up today

I went for a booster at the OU on Friday. The organisation was flawless. No queueing that would really qualify for the word. In and out in 20 minutes including the 15 minute sit down at the end.

Hats off to all those involved. :)

WCMUT was how quick and easy it was to get my booster. I was hoping to get it at the local surgery (where I had the first 2) but it seems they're not doing it for me now so I had to book in to a centre. I know a couple of people who volunteer there so had an idea that it would be a fairly smooth experience and so it proved. The only PITA was the 15 minute wait after the jab itself.

Me too! Was booked to go to Chichester (mass vaccination hub) yesterday which would have been half an hour each way on a Saturday and fight to park plus waiting time, but rang and got an appointment for my local centre today instead.

35 minutes from leaving home to getting back including the obligatory 15 min Pfizer wait ... well chuffed!

Mine was a bit further away but still well under an hour door to back at the same door. Being at 10:30 on a Sunday morning may have been a good choice of days and times! No traffic problems and no queues at the jabbery.

Remembering that I left the Hot Topics section and can no longer see it anymore is what cheered me up today, especially with the new current variant on the cards.

Don’t listen to Chis. It’s so different since you left … you must have been the main trouble maker Paul! ;)

Even if that were true, there is always plenty of others waiting in the wings to take *his* or anyone else's place.

Actually I valued your contributions as adding to the picture of the pandemic, view from the front line, so to speak, even though you maybe got a bit ratty sometimes — which I thought was understandable. I’d better shut up now or this thread will go to HT! ;(

Not today but yesterday.

It was Mrs WW's birthday. It started with presents which she didn't open until much later.

Then we went out.

And went for a meal.

We're tied the house a lot of the time and it's often difficult to get out so we value this time out and at the end of the day she said "Thank you for today" but of course it was my pleasure.

I had an unopened packet of milk chocolate crumble crunch biscuits and no one else eats them so I was surprised to see the packet half empty... and then I spotted Mrs WW with a plate of them, too many to eat in one go. "What are you doing with those" I asked, "Making ice cream" was the reply.

YES!!!!! :D

2 items that were due on Friday arrived today. Just after they arrived in the post, I had a text from Royal Mail telling me that one of them will be delivered tomorrow.

Finding some fingerless and thumbless gloves in a local shop :)
I hate the ones you can find that have the thumb covered

Treated myself to a new external hard drive for my PC , what cheered me up was realising that with a 6TB drive I can have all old photos (Raw files) in one place and can go back and re-edit them easily :)

Went to the local Lloyds chemist yesterday to get some micropore tape to hold a dressing in place, they were once again
closed.
Stuck some normal tape on and hope it would be ok till this morning (I'm allergic to plasters)
Went down again this morning and they are shut all day again
Pooped along to Sainsburys and they had a clearance on it, 28p a roll :)

Was through in Newcastle today SHMBO said it was necessary c********s shopping.
John Lewis were doing their choose your own Quality Street, fill a tin minimum 3 choices but if you were an account holder no minimum so I got a whole tin of my favourites and even better there was 20% off.

Could you get away with a tin full of purple ones, with one green one and one yellow one sitting on top?

I don't know as I have an account I was aloud to have the tin filled with the one I like but I suppose if you don't ask you don't get, it costs nothing to have an account except the odd email and they do send you regular freebies like a cup of coffee or free cake.

I managed to looseone of my hearing aids during the week, mask on mask off etc, must have pinged out sometime and clot didn't notice, checked mailbox this morning and replacement in there, forgot yesterday as away early, balanced hearing again, yippee. Thanks NHS, great service.

I use washable masks and have adapted the ones that usually hook behind the ears to tie behind my head. Stops me pinging my HAs out! On the rare occasions where I'm told to wear the "proper" type, I take the HAs out and ask people to speak up.

A little jaunt up to a local road to sit in the car and watch Redwings & Fieldfares munching on the Rowan berries. A simple but enjoyable hour or so....

Though I use micropore tape, for holding dressings its not as good a Mefix tape (various widths).

WCMUT? Home made falafels. Followed a recipe and have discovered that the quantities in the book make close to 50 2" diameter x 1/2" thick snack sized patties. A few broke in half during the cooking/storage process so QC checks were made (and passed with flying colours!)

WCMUT was a strangely British thing - driving a convertible with the top down on a winter's day! Heater on full bore and gloves on. Woolly hat against cold rather than baseball cap to stop bald spot burning in the sun!

People were staring at herself and I yesterday when we were out, 4’c and bright blue sunny skies so we went for a blast, it’s easier to heat the small Honda cabin with extra heat vents than their boxes, and much more fun, lots of fresh air they say in these Covid times, only complying.

I got my first convertible when I was 21. A blue MG Midget. One of my sisters knitted me a woolly hat and I got a leather jacket to keep me warm. I still have both today. The jacket has aeroplanes on the lining and I just can't bring myself to throw it out, it still fits me but I haven't worn it in a long time. What I'd really like to do it have a camera bag made out of it. Most of my cars have been two seat soft tops and I do like to drive them with the top down whenever possible and even if it's raining a bit the rain goes over your head as long as your moving but at traffic lights you get wet :D

My 3rd car and my 1st soft top.

That car went to Bristol and back in a day and London and back in a day too, twice each (but not in the same day.) It was also surprisingly good in snow.

I owned a white Mark IV. I had to sell it when our daughter was born but I made a small profit on the deal, so that was OK. :naughty:

My mate carried a wee umbrella in his Lotus, it was funny to see it pop up when he was forced to stop.

WCMUT? Hearing the good lady say "That's the last of the Christmas shopping!"

That's nice. Out of interest, just how little is it then, Paul ? :D
LOL, smarty. To be fair, it's a leap from the iphone 8 to the 13 pro max and its really impressive.
