WCMUT....what cheered me up today

What? The washing up bowl? :P

Mrs WW made me laugh this morning.

We had pizza last night and she couldn't eat hers so she left four slices intending to eat them for breakfast. I'd eaten all my pizza so I had pancake on toast (yum yum) and left her some mixture as I'd forgotten about the left over pizza. She ate her pizza and then disappeared so I went into the kitchen to see what she was up to and found her making a pancake. Two breakfasts? :D

Probably better start a "Gardening 2021 thread
Actually that's not a bad idea (y)
Give me a few mins :)

Edit Its HERE

People seem to get a bit arsey when the jokes thread goes off topic though...
A joke thread is for jokes, not for analyzing them :p

Is that a new thing post "B" word? Or has it always been the case when adapting?

Sorry, meant the zero VAT rating on your new bathroom.

If you like baths but have a problem standing up after one, I have a bath lift (which'll get you half way up) which I needed a few years back and is just taking up room in the loft now. Combined with a doored bath, might be a possibility.

Ah, sorry. For some reason, I thought "B" was for Boiler!

No, people with disabilities don't pay VAT on items sold for that purpose like walking aids etc

No, prefer showers and it'll be nice to open up some space in the bathroom.

When I was looking for a new place it's what attracted me to this one, a nice sized walk in shower
cubicle, like you never used the bath in my old place far easier to step under the shower
Word of advice if haven't already, go for an electric shower rather then one that runs off the hot water tank,
when my immersion went wrong last year is was fantastic to still be able to use the shower

What you having done? Bath out and shower in?

Yeah, walk in shower, been wanting one for a while. Current bathroom is 30 years old (from when the house was built) so it definitely needs doing.

Just had a combi boiler installed so the shower is working ok but yes, will definitely be getting an electric one.

I think you either won’t need or can’t have a power shower with a combi boiler. I have one but it was disconnected when I had a comb boiler installed, which works off mains pressure and the header tank was bypassed. Not an expert so don’t take my word for it, also my house is single storey.

B was for Br***t... I know that the EU was responsible for a few bits of taxation that weren't exactly fair and wasn't sure if your VAT situation was one of those that's been resolved more fairly this year...

I prefer showers but still like an occasional bath, followed up by a cleansing shower once the tank's reheated - I call it a "bower", great for warming old bones after a chilly ride or a wet round of golf!

WCMUT was MiL getting an all clear after finding a small lump. Ultrasound and mammogram came back clear. Waiting for the -logists to do the -logy took longer than the -graphers' bits!

Didn't enjoy the drive to her place and back (twice) much though - foggy or wet, compounded by twilight on the second round trip. Did get the car properly warmed up though!

We've never been able to have a power shower because we don't have a cold water tank in the loft but we're talking about an electric shower.

A mixer shower off a combi will be a lot better than an electric shower.....

My electric shower has a mains supply, doesn't run off the cold water tank
One of my neighbours had a wet room installed under a scheme for the disabled,
through our local council
Her shower works off the hot tank and she has a pump in the cupboard to get the supply
to the shower, not enough pressure without it.
Mind you they also put a small hand basin in the bathroom, totally useless even for briching teeth

You can't have any kind of pumped shower with a combi boiler due to the fact that the combi boosts the hot water flow....

Better in what way?
Much better flow rate. Like a power shower.
An electric shower will typically give you 3-5 litres per minute flow rate.
A typical mixer shower will give you around 9-11, possibly more, depending on the combi boiler that you have....

I didn't know that. Reason we wanted an electric shower was the consistent temperature.

food for thought, thanks.

Maybe I’m using the wrong terminology the (now disconnected) power shower I have is electric and worked by increasing the pressure of water coming from the header tank I think, now it just comes from the mains via the combi boiller and is adequately powerful though not as powerful as the old one which could be painful on some settings.

If you buy a thermostatic mixer shower, the temperature will be consistent.....

TBH, I know nothing of how these things work.

Sorry, I used the wrong wording. The shower we have now, takes time for the hot water to come through (same with taps in bathroom and kitchen), although a lot quicker than with the old boiler. An electric shower would be instant, wouldn't it?

Also, the controls on the electric will be easier for me to use.

My static has a combi boiler and a thermostatic shower which is excellent ...

... until the gas bottle runs out mid shower!!!! :runaway:

What is this gas bottle?

Gas bottle is for an LPG system in a static caravan....

A mixer will take a bit longer for the hot water to come through compared to an electric shower.
A modern mira mixer shower will be easy to control. The mira elements mixer has a single control for flow and temperature.

Cheers Bob, much appreciated.

Mine isn't instant but it takes less then a minute for warm water to come through
The great thing is, once you have found a heat you like you can just leave it set and push the on button without
changing settings every time.
Lived here 9 years and it was here when I bought it so no idea how long before it was put in but the room didn't look that old
I know the previous owner was only here a couple of years.
Only thing I did was buy a new shower head as it one of those standard little ones that only have one spray pattern, now have a circular adjustable flow pattern one

quick picture to show you, but remember it's not the latest version

Doesn't work when Bestbeloved likes her showers scalding hot.

That seems quite a long time. Our current 30 year old shower takes less than that.

Ok checked it when I showered this morning and probably about 15secs

I've just eaten a huge slice of home made Christmas cake with marzipan and icing. Yum Yum.
