WCMUT....what cheered me up today

Ours are still up too, whilst we celebrate 'couldn't-be-arsed-to-take-them-down-mass', an important event in the calendar marked by ordering a curry, pouring a beer and watching MOTD2.

A tree was put up in my house, in my absence, a very short time before christmas.
I took it down VERY early on 27th December (it was still dark).
Let's just say that if there are to be any decorations next christmas.....they'll have to be re-purchased.

I had a small tree and some window lights this year, first time for a while, great thing about living on your own you can please yourself, not even thinking about
next year, might not even be here ;)
 
After several years of politely asking the local authority to seriously prune the monstrosities of trees between the houses, there is a small green / walk through separating garden to garden houses, that are over 60 feet tall, at a guestamate, and "turning up the heat" the last 6 months, I came home from work and found a few guys looking skyward at the trees, and briefly lopped a few of the lower branches off before the rain set in.
I thought that lumberjacks were ruffty tuffty, obviously not these they went home.
Oh well its a start, ...
Taken from my patio doors ( well it was raining :D )

Garden approx 50 feet long thoroughfare approx 50 feet wide, total, approx 150 feet to back of next house..
I think they are a little on the large side!

Not the first time the multi-rollover jackpot will "trickle down"...just the largest sum to do so.

And since the numbers were increased by 10, never before has such an outrageous sum been available on the UK lottery.
I'm still having a punt though :D

Saw my little girl for the first time since before Christmas, took her clothes shopping and then to pizza hut for lunch :)

But you can't buy tickets for the past ones, so pretty much irrelevent to letting people know it's happening again soon and giving them the option to buy tickets if they don't know o_O

Is that council houses right on the edge of your estate, or is it the staff dwellings? If it is the former, I do hope that your staff proactively discourage the council house dwellers from encroaching onto your property. Toodle pip.

The trunks look about 2 foot diameter, so that leaves 24 foot each side to walk past them if using the thoroughfare. Dont see the problem myself. They in fact prevent neighbours at the back from being able to see into your garden/house and increase your privacy. Have you got something against trees?

There is a laid path about 2 feet wide between them, the other area is grassed that gets chewed up with kids playing football and dogs playing kiss chase.
But that isn't the issue.

They could also do that at circa 20 feet tall, the other 40 + feet is superfluous, shading my garden from the sun in all but the hight of summer, well that is mid June to early august.
As already noted elsewhere, a bough, broke lose, in the previous high winds back in June, some 20 odd feet up in the air and some 20 odd feet long.
It took 3 months for them to remove it, although it was just balancing there on other branches.
I have nothing against tree's except at that hight and size, right next to houses and pathways.
 
WCMUT: Whilst I was sat having a cuppa in a cafe this afternoon, a chough stood less than 4 metres away from me, feeding on seeds spilled from a bird feeder. I've never seen one so close-up before.

Edit: And here it is. I only had the X10 with me but took a picture anyway (fully zoomed and cropped).

Thanks Nod. Yes, it was quite a privilage to see one so close. If anyone's interested, it was outside the RSPB cafe at South Stack on Anglesey.
 
WCMUT was that after spending almost 1/2 an hour on the phone to my current bike insurers (see WAMT thread!), 20 minutes on the blower (0800 number) to a different insurer has found me a much cheaper premium that covers both bikes for less than Bennetts wanted for the one they would still insure. Hopefully, if I need to claim there won't be a Saga to tell!
 
WCMUT: I'm going to see the new Star Wars film on Saturday (in 3D providing they haven't sold out by tomorrow when I go and book it).

In 1977 my five year-old self thought the original was incredible so expectations are quite high. :)

I found them outrageously expensive when I had bikes, Carol Nash always had a much better deal, but that was quite a few years ago now.
 
Carol Nash were more expensive when I restarted bike insurance, hence me using Bennetts. Then, when I bought the second bike and was phoning round, Bennetts were best for multi-bike deals. This year, it appears that despite being a specialist motorcycle insurer, they can no longer insure Royal Enfield Bullet 500s but Saga can and are cheaper for the 2 than Bennetts would be for just the Triumph.

Well, had Bennetts been able to do both bikes, I'd probably have just paid their quoted price (being a lazy git!) so in the long run they did me a favour! Going up to the Bristol Classic Bike Show next month so I'll see what they have to say for themselves if I'm bored!
 
Mny moons ago when I worked in Insurance, Norwich Union did a policy that covered the rider for any bike up to a specified cc or unlimited, TPO,TPF&T or fully comp.
Bike was covered if you were out on it and parked up, but not if parked in your garage, didn't seem to worry many in those days as much as it would today I reckon.
