WCMUT....what cheered me up today

I'm booked to go via Dunkirk. The very sight of them would make me have full melt down.,
Oh I dunno, send them advanced warning of your arrival, and a link to the various threads,
they'll be "back home" in a flash :D

You don't think I'd suffer ballistic facial trauma?
Far from it, I think your reputation would precede you :D

My old man said that to me, but it's further east again. Had I been going to Germany I probably would have gone this way (there's an autumn holiday and castle visiting but that's another year)

The plans to grab a sunset at Mont St Michel them head down via Nantes etc to a spot called le lac cap de long in the Pyranees. There's a series of lakes etc in close proximity that I can get proper camera time in and wonderful golden hours etc.

There's an abbey at Sosmsees (spelling is cack) I want to visit but will do on way back.

Ideally I'd have taken Cherbourg crossing but it's like £180 each way from Poole, and Dunkirk via Dover is a 3rd or less than that. £120 plus buys a lot of fuel and food.

Waking up this morning remembering I'd booked today off work for no reason so I can enjoy a regular Sunday with nothing to do, can't remember the last one! Reckon I'll amble out and get a newspaper and cook a nice meal for the family:)

It's here, I've tested it and it's sharp accross the frame and doesn't fall off sharpness wise in the edges. It's a good one and I've got a really wide lens for when 24mm just won't do.

That and I'm off to France on holiday, didn't think I've mentioned it.

Oh, and I put £30 of diesel in my car and it's given it nearly another 300miles worth of range.

You get stuff delivered on a BH Sunday ? No danger of that here in Lboro. Great lens though. I was a bit surprised how much distortion there is at the 16mm end but that apart I love mine. Congrats on the purchase.

There is a bit, but I doubt it'll go wider than 18 very often. I had a Zeiss 21 but it was pretty mushy in the corners (oddly, bad copy) and dead sharp in the middle. This seems good accross the whole frame. I carry a 24-70 but with big mountains etc 24 sometimes isbt wide enough.

I paid a fiver for amazon to deliver it next day, ordered Friday late night. I need it for Saturday next but liked the delivery early incase it was a bad copy and I could get it swapped but it seems fine.

Hi Steve

Definitely THE lens for landscapes in Nikon fitment IMVHO. A good choice on your part. Glad you have a good copy.

I rarely get stuff from Amazon but great to know about the express delivery service.

If Lboro is Loughborough, you can get Amazon purchases delivered on Sundays and BH Sundays :)

The sNAT anti nuclear quislings won't like this. This makes me happy and fuzzy inside

Yeh, and I saw some CND bloke on the news speaking pish as usual. The just don't seem to get the bigger picture. I note the SNP have been unusually quite regarding the down turn it the 'eggs all in one basket' oil industry. It's a bloody disaster up here right now, people getting laid off left right and center. Has a knock on effect throughout the community as well. Not a happy place at all.

My mate lives up your way, towards newmachar and most of his colleagues have been laid off. He's merciful survived. One thing is sure, oil prices can really only go one way and that's up...

It is a pretty nervous time for a lot of folk. It's a cut throat business at the best of times. I'd not bet on the price going up just yet.

Sorry to disturb the right wing love-in but back on topic...

WCMUT: Ordered an item on Amazon yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. Delivery choices were £5.99 guaranteed by tomorrow (Tuesday) or free delivery estimated between Thursday & Saturday. Went for the free delivery.

It arrived half an hour ago!

Can't hurt living not a million miles from a mahoosive amazon depot! :-)

Amazon it has to be said are awesome. Unlike fabs I did pay for the next day service as I'm going away soon and wanted to test the gear, and have time to return it if it was faulty and a new one exchanged in time.

As it were it's fine but amazons tracking service ( when you do opt for next day delivery) is so well integrated to the site. No wonder they are one of the top retailers in the world.

WCMUT: realising this time next week I'll be at le lac cap de long and hopefully getting great light and food.

WCMUT was a good clear run down to Agia Galini from Chania, breking the trip with a light lunch at Spili, with a view of the lion fountains. Not a bad view from our apartment balcony either AND there's decent free wifi!

Despite the rain this morning managed to crack on and finish off the patch of lacquer that had vanished from my bumper along with the Version R branding that was missing. Not 100% sure it's aligned right, but it's a lot better than flaky paint! It's only taken me over a year to get round to it!

WCMUT: downloading mobile app for my banking. I work in a bank so should have done this yonks ago, but [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] me this is the future. So easy, so handy. Branches and call centres are dead once the non digital capable people die off
