WBMT.....What baffled me today

I've only paid for next day delivery from Amazon on a couple of occassions, once when I really needed the thing and once when the item was so expensive that the delivery charge was irrelevant. Otherwise, I opt for free delivery. The interesting thing is that things still come quickly and, surprisingly, often next day! :wideyed:

On Friday we were just about to set off in our car to collect our groceries when we were temporarily blocked in by the Bin lorry, collecting our recycled rubbish.

For some years now as instructed by our local council, we have carefully seperated paper rubbish from the other recycling into a seperate black box which fits inside our recycling bin.

We were both stunned as we watched the bin man carefully empty the paper waste into our recycling bin before emptying it all into the lorry. He did this with all the bins in our cul-de-sac.

What a waste of effort........

WBMT?

I ordered 3 small separate items from Amazon.
Each one fulfilled by Amazon and all next day delivery with prime.
(Arriving Sunday)

I opted for the one package option, It seems that won't arrive until Monday ..
No rush on my part, but had I been in a rush and wanted the prime next day,
I wonder, would it have all come on 3 separate vans or 3 separate packages on one van?
Yes because they are likely in different warehouses and it will take a day to get them all together I have had 2 items come in 2 packages from the same warehouse so it might be that items stored far apart are not packed together

That was my best guess too.
Next time ( if its urgent ) they can deliver on 3 different vans ;)

I'm baffled by the pop up ads I'm seeing, not necessarily here but generally... I'm seeing ads for JD Sports everywhere, mostly of attractive ladies in bras and pants. Very nice. But why? I don't think I've ever looked at the JD Sports site or ever bought anything from them. Mrs WW does online shopping but she has her own computer, tablet and phone so I don't understand why I'm seeing these ads. Could her browsing and purchases on her hardware affect what I see because we're using the same hub?

You shouldn't be seeing any pop up ads here.

mostly of attractive ladies in bras and pants
I had a few of those, so I ordered a couple.
Their clothes arrived yesterday, so I'm guessing they'll be here any day now (y)

Yes. Especially if you use anything Google like Chrome or use their search engine.

Ah. So I wonder if she's getting all the camera, lens and car ads that I should be seeing :D

Thanks again you two. I never knew that.

Not that I ever look at anything embarrassing... it's all age and gender and married man appropriate... but it just shows you... Big Tech is watching YOU!

Actually these ads could maybe give Mrs WW clues as to what presents I'm considering buying her at birthday and other times. Big Tech should maybe address this.

So, are the top b*ll*cks lifted and separated properly now?

More seriously, I don't seem to get any pop-ups that would apply to Mrs Nod (and very few that would apply to me!)

Just wanted to check, this is 2021 and its pretty easy to build a website???

Looking at places to eat for our holiday in Cornwall - so may places we look at on trip advisor do not have a website or menu showing... crazy in this day and age!

WBMT?
I was in a large Tesco extra this morning,
Someone has re-done all the directional arrows since my last visit...
All the aisles arrows are now pointing down, the cross sections are all pointing left.
So, you go down one aisle walk all the way back to the start ( entrance) up the first aisle, turn left before you can go down another aisle, and repeat WTF?
( not that many people have taken notice in the past anyway, and that was when it was down one & up the next)

Ours did away with the arrows ages ago, just the traffic lights at the entrance now.
They have also started the £1 slot for the trolleys again

Traffic lights here also.
Trolleys still free ..

This continues to baffle me.

How come it's her chocolate but the yogurt and spicy crisps that I buy for me (she said she's going to stop eating crisps and I shouldn't eat them either, I said you stop if you want, I'm going to eat them.) are ours? And she's still eating the crisps.

You obviously missed the small print in the marriage cert.
"What's yours is mine, and what's mine is my own"
I hope that clears that up for you (y)

Not sure Mrs Nod will ever claim MY mankini as hers...

Today...

And this happens on multiple sites.

I think that the ad targeting isn't as clever as it should be.

My missus has been looking at under counter freezers

Glad to know I'm not the only sufferer but I still wonder why I'm not getting camera, lens and car ads. Maybe I look at 4 sites over several days while she's doing a lot more surfing.

You're lucky.

I'll have to spend more time surfing and maybe even buying if I want to see ads that interest me (more than young ladies in bra and pants sets.)

I know she's ordered a load of stuff from the £5 shop but maybe she had a good long look at JD Sports too.

Neither do I or Mrs WW Martin.

I think this is just down to general surfing and shopping on line. I'm not annoyed by this, I was just curious why I was seeing JD Sports ads which should probably be directed at young women when AFAI remember I've never been to the site or ever bought anything from them. If I wasn't seeing these ads I'd be seeing others, so I'm not bothered. If Mrs WW's on line activity is responsible for this even though she used her own PC, tablet and phone then fair enough, that's that explained :D Cameras, lenses, cars, watches, Amazon, ebay and the news sites are pretty much it for me although I might be tempted to get a mankini :D

Maybe it'll soon be time for a Talk Photography calendar? Mankini's all round?

DH (f**king) L

Wife ordered me some beers - away last night and delivered this morning. We are No.3, note in letterbox said delivered to No.1.

Although they didn't get them and the rubbish pic they sent as proof of delivery is not no1, they have had a grey door for 6 years, not the white one in the pic. Wife has walked round the block and none of the doors match - so no.1 where???

Please don't give @Nod any more encouragement.

I'm running out of mind bleach! :puke:

It's available from all bad chemical sellers. All proceeds from the blackmail (the threat of me posting a shot of the bankini about my person...) will be donated to the moderating team - send any cheques direct to them.

Tesco decided to send me a free sample box of coffee pods...
...for the Nespresso machine I don't have.

Sat having a late lunch, noticed the packet of 'crackers' my wife was sampling were made in Canada...... for goodness sake, can we not even make crackers in this country anymore?

It started me wondering, would shipping the grain to the UK & making them here (assuming we cannot produce the right sort of flour ourselves) have a lower carbon footprint than shipping ready made produce?

Firstly we had this, this morning ...

The Met Office has issued its first-ever amber extreme heat warning due to 'unusually high' temperatures in parts of the UK, including Milton Keynes.
The warning comes as the forecast continues to signal for incredibly hot temperatures both during the day and at night, creating potential impacts for health.
There are expected to be highs of 29° in Milton Keynes today and 28° tomorrow with unbroken sunshine.

And now this..

Local news- Following the first-ever amber warning this morning, The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across Milton Keynes this afternoon.
The Met Office has today (20/07) put in place a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms this afternoon amid the heatwave.
These thunderstorms could produce 30-60 mm of rain within 1-2 hours."

Yep that's just about covered your collective arses :D

Had a few flashes here too, but after the constable had a quiet word with me I have agreed to stay indoors for the rest of the evening.
