WBMT.....What baffled me today

Freezing temperatures and I see men out walking wearing winter coats with shorts.

Totally baffling!

Steve.

WBMT Why do some companies(schwartz/sains/asda etc, but not all) make herb jars that you cant fit a normal sized teaspoon into?!?! I mean just what is the bloody point?

I don't want to be funny, but which end of the spoon are you using?
A teaspoon recently

The operational end, ie. the spoon end.

Recipe calls for 1 tsp of oregano I try to get the spoon in the jar. some jars fits fine, other, poorly designed ones, it doesnt.

Could you not just pour it onto the spoon? That's what I do.

Or do what I do, and find a twig and poke it in. Then eat it off the twig. It's quite simple really.

Eerie connection: I visited a potential new school for my daughter this week. And I didn't immediately realise it was once a tragic scene of 52 deaths many years before. In 1960 a US Convair C131 with 20 people including American students on board took off from Riem airport. Riem is no longer an airport. I work in one of many offices built right on the former runway. The plane was bound for RAF Northolt. Which is where my father later served in the RAF. The Convair developed engine problems and could not get enough height to clear the 318ft steeple of St. Paul's church right next to the school building. The plane passed over the school building and crashed down into the street, hitting a tram, killing 32 people on the ground and all on board the plane.

As I was busy filling the van with bags of "Soil improver" ( one of my regular clients produces the stuff 100's of tonnes a day) and as you may know its "produced" from green garden waste.

I pondered on the fact that as I will be growing plants in it, will that be cannibalism, or vegetarianism?

WBMT?
Why is it that parents insist on loading their off-spring into the back of the car "road side"?
It doesn't seem to matter which way around the car is parked, it's always from the road side rather than the path side...

This brings me neatly to what baffles me today - the school bus. On my way to the new job if I get the timing wrong I get caught up in the school run and for some reason, all the parents wait with their kids on the wrong side of the road, the bus pulls up diagonally across the road blocking it off completely, this morning bringing the entire village to a standstill because one of the little cherubs forgot his lunchbox and had to go back for it.

Today's offering.

A cross-roads, (and a single carriageway), perfectly aligned with a roundabout in the middle.
The Roundabout is in a 30 mph limit and approx. 15 feet across. painted on the road and slightly raised with a block paving edge.
But low enough to drive over ( should you so desire).

I arrived at the roundabout at the exact same time as an X3 ( other German cars are available of course ) and facing each other.
he was indicating right ( yes I know I was shocked too, but that's not the end of the story. )
I was indicating left.
There was plenty of time for me to make the left turn before the BMW was even a 1/4 of the way around, so off I went..

Hands up all those that have already figured out what the t***t did next ...

Yep he made his right turn, by driving up the road on the wrong side that he wanted to enter, passing the roundabout to his left.

I guess all in an effort to stop me getting in front of him.

Shortly after we both joined a dual carriageway with a 70 limit.
I stayed behind expecting him to "roar off down the road"
But no, 50 was about all he could manage on that stretch ...

X5 reads as a winkie size... X3 drivers must have even smaller ones.

What baffles me is why motorway services charge so much for fuel, how do they get away with it. Surely I can't be the only one that just puts 5 or 6 litres in to see me home when if it was more reasonable price I would fill up.

how do they get away with it
Captive audience? People with company fuel cards and don't give a monkey's?

CBA to check sat nav for a fuel station off the motorway? There's usually one not too far away

The guy on the dual carriageway today who wouldn't overtake me
I was pottering along at 60 this morning on an empty dual carriageway in the left lane on the way to work and this guy sat tailgating me really close behind rather than just nipping round me very odd it is a dual carriageway after all
In the end I slowed down to 50 and he still sat on my tail really close could only just see his lights i stayed at 50 for a little while eventually he woke up and went round me
I wanted to tell him there's two lanes you are allowed to overtake :D

What is it with double sided carpet tape?
Its like a bloody magnet, get it anywhere near you tools and it attracts, and sticks to them like the proverbial,
Does it stick where I wanted it to? ...
Hell no!

Is your hand now stuck to your tool?

I ordered a Phottix 152 cm white umbrella from Amazon this morning as it on offer at £18 + P&P, below it under other items you may be interested in were 5 or 6 blow up sex dolls!

I was a dockyard trained apprentice and an officer in the Merchant Navy when I was, much, younger and I haven't led that much of a sheltered life, but the connection between the two does have me baffled.

But were you interested?

Warning the public not to take storm selfies on places like promenades during an incoming storm?
Do you really need telling not to stand with your back to a sea wall with waves crashing over the top of it

For the sake of the species would it be beneficial to just let them do it.

But then the inshore lifeboat gets sent out to risk the lives of it's volunteers to fish them out again, so no.

Fair comment, all academic because its highly unlikely they would heed the warning

But were you interested?

No, I've never been interested in inanimate objects, except perhaps my first wife for the last few years of the marriage. ;)

So I ordered 4 singles rather than a batch of 4.
and I bet they all come in separate boxes the size of a house too

Probably! Coming on a slow boat from China, hopefully on top of the pile of other junk...

A road sign on the southern outskirts of Peterborough, it points towards the London bound A1 and proudly states

"A1 South avoiding Stamford"

Probably will seeing as Stamford is about twenty miles northwards in the opposite direction
Avoiding York and Newcastle as well along with everything else up the A1

When my central heating thermostat relay clicks off at night, it causes the TV screen to also momentarily go blank. I have no idea how.

Both in the same room? I wonder if the relay is emitting an IR pulse that mimics the TV remote control??? Though just with a brief screen going black would be an odd "instruction".
