Somebody please tell me if they think this won't work!

I use an expodisc to set my WB when shooting with my D7000. It works perfectly for getting a nice neutral tone. However sometimes I would like a slight warm or cool tone. Rather than buying the expodisc portrait which gives a slightly warmer tone, could I purchase a 77mm 82A cooling filter and place that above the expodisc when setting WB? This would then trick the camera into boosting the warm tones to compensate, and the use an 81A for boosting cooler tones?

Couldn't you just set it using the expos disc, read what it has set and adjust slightly in manual/custom wb?

In camera.
There should be the option to set a specific colour temp as your white balance so meter it with the expo disc, note temp then adjust either warmer or cooler and enter in the setting where you can specify the colour temp.

take a photo using the expodisc, warm that up/ cool it down in PP, print and use that as a custom wb card?

Then pay for a professional print from somewhere like DSCL as their printers won't be off and as long as your screen is calibrated you should be fine.

For the sake of a £1 print I'd take the risk over more expensive filter.
