Ok, had another bash last night with my new Lencarta lights. Set WB on D300 to 5560, yet not happy with this. In LR it says temp was 5300, and tint 0. If I drop tint to -25/30 its looks fine. Plan to have a play later again, but any ideas how to correct this?

Next time you shoot, why not include a grey card, then use that as a baseline to calibrate in LR, and any other editing prog that you have?
 
If it is a repeatable situation then do a custom White Balance and save it in your cameras memory. :shrug:

Couple of quick changes in PS on the curves.
 
Just do a custom white balance, or include a reference target in the shot and use that in post processing.

Trying to calculate colour temperature is impossible. The temperature of the lights is usually nominal (not saying anything about Lencarta particularly) but more significantly you have no idea what the influence of any diffusers is, and then there's the unknown effect of the surroundings which can throw things completely.

A custom white balance takes all these things into account automatically.

I really wouldn't get too hung up on getting it perfect at time of shooting, unless you have lots of shots to process in a short amount of time. Just shoot in RAW on flash W/B if using flash that is and just use the eye dropper in LR.

Well, it is just a quick change - -25 on tint - dont see how custom WB will affect that as in LR the WB part I dont touch, just the tint. There is a menu where I can fine tune WB but do not have a clue where to move stuff to - you cant just enter a number.

Will try it in a different room and see if that changes anything and give auto a try, although as I said its only a small change.
