Hi everyone
I thought I would say hello from Bali as Im currently stuck in looking after my daughter who is poorly with a fever and stomach upset. So Im really just filling time inbetween clearing up the vomit and nagging her to drink
, poor little thing.
We are away on a 3 week holiday in Indonesia, mostly on Bali and have been here since last Thursday. Hence the reason you wont see any photos posted by me for most of October. So far we have flown to the island of Flores then taken a boat trip to a place they call Angel island, where we went snorkelling and swimming. Then we sailed on too another island called Palau kalong - Flying foxes island, where we watched all the flying foxes fly off the island from sunset onwards. They fly to Flores to eat the mango and papaya - there were hundreds of them, unfortunately it was too dark to capture them in photographs but we did video them.
We slept on the boat, on the deck that night, which was great, and woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the islands. So lots of photos taken, which has been challenging on a rocking boat
.
We then sailed on to the island of Rinca which is part of the Komodo national park, where we were incredibly lucky as we managed to see 15 Komodo dragons in total. The heat was intense, Im sure it was up to around 35C by 7am, so we only hiked around 1 &1/2 miles. Then we sailed off to a smaller island for more snorkelling and an amazing array of tropical fish.
Next we spent the evening on Flores, with another lovely sunset, but the only place I could get a view that was not obscured by trees was from within a local bar, but I still managed a few photos of course.
That night the bats were keeping us company in the restaurant and I managed to capture a few in flight, not brilliant pics, but it was fun.
The next day we flew back to Bali, where we have chilled for the day, swimming etc. Unfortunately Beth fell ill this morning, but luckily Im a nurse and brought a tonne of medications with me just in case. Fingers crossed shegets better quickly so we can take her on more trips.
We are staying in a wonderful treehouse, within a safari park ( Mari river safari park), where we look out our window and can see zebras, wildebeasts, oryxes and rhinos. The restaurant window over looks the lion enclosure, so we constantly get to watch the animals and photograph them. We have already observed both the lions and the zebras mating.
We are surrounded by native wildlife too, pretty birds and all sorts of insects, so never ending photo opportunities.
Well thats all for now, hope you are all keeping well.
I might post a few times over the next couple of weeks, if I can drag myself away from watching the wildlife.
